We realy don't have a good feel for the vampire world at large in the SM World. There may be many such as Rose and Esme out there that would love to have children. Who knows?

That is true, how can anyone after meeting the Cullens say that all the others are the "monsters" strange wording. But you just don't know

We did get some idea of thier covens in BD, We seen several smaller long term covens that are very close in make up (except the diet) as the Cullens. Their are of course nomads that have a significately different lifestyle but it is clear the Cullens are not the only long term coven...

One of the things that bothers me about the Voltari is they left their chief rival's the Romaninas alive. That seems very counter productive. Leave no enemy behind that can ever rise against you. Hello, they are in the mafia homeland?

Well the Romanians must be some bad a--- kicking vamps to let the volturi not kill them. I don't think that it would be much different if the Romanians would be in charge you know in their name is Roman. Interesting isn't?

Actually their is a significately different culture. Romanian was a provience or Romes but the Slovic/Gypsy cultures is nothing like that of Rome/Italy.

Even if they are bad@$$ Vamps, all the more reason to eleminate them...

Yeah, the culture in Romania is closer to Russia, the Czech Republic, and all the other slavic states. But Diane knows that, I think she just meant it was an interesting coincidence in the words!

True, its like the Roman Empire encompase most of Europe and parts of Africa and a lot. When the Russians took over it was closer to the present and its interesting Romania = Rome Volturi = Italy. Still wondering why the Volturi is leaving such a dangerous enemy alive? Not sure on the actual nationality of the indiviual Volturi or the history that might even link them to the Romania's they could go back to the Roman empire time, but it would be a great book also just on the Volturi and how they became.

Well, the culture that the volturi seem to inhabit is mostly western European it seems, i.e. Roman roman, whereas the Romanians are very classically slavic.

p.s. I find all the Roman Empire/Russian Empire taking over business, along with the cultural implications to be absolutely fascinating.

Aro and Marcus sound like Italian names, so they could be indigenous to the region. Caius I'm not sure of.

Caius is an old Roman name. So I wonder if he is the oldest vamp you have that name in the Roman Empire time with Cesear, so I could be on to something. So you think humiliating the Romanians is worse than death. It could be, but always have to be alert to them because in BD they want to find anyone or any excuse to get rid of the Volturi but I sorta like the humilation part of it.

I think that the Romanians could be formidable enemies to the Volturi in a way they aren't expecting. The Romanians have been around a long, long, long time, right? So they may know some of the Volturi's weaknesses, they've certainly had time to observe.

I think the Volturi really could go down to an organized group of other vampires. The ones the Cullens gathered in Breaking Dawn were no rag-tag band of misfits. Although Aro considers himself a "collector" he has failed to collect some of the most useful powers in battle.

Edward's ability to read what someone is thinking at the moment without touching them is incredibly useful, more so than Aro's in battle. Bella's shield ability, provided she's able to use it well, is also a huge asset. Jasper's ability to calm people, or give them hope, etc would be HUGE for morale, Alice's future seeing... really it's all very impressive. Kate's electricity, that Egyptian kid's weather, Zafrina's ability..... it could have been a much more even match than we thought, had it come to that.

Yes they did have a mixture of different powers and the real threat was Jane and I forgot which one could freeze you I think a lot of people would have died and the ones on the side of the Cullens were not out to kill anyone, where as Volturi was there to do that. Benjemins ability to change the weather was fasinating so it would have been a fight between someone who wanted control vs someone who wanted to live so you have to give the edge to the Cullens and their friends because they have more to lose if they didn't win.
