I thought it was just Jane's power. You felt the pain. But what you said makes sense because you could see it going down her arm so it seems like true electricity.

But wait, when does Bella start protecting her whole body? Does she ever or even as a vampire, she still only protects her mind. Does Jasper's power work on her if she chooses to protect her body? Does she shield from everything? Sorry, off topic, I suppose.

I always thought that pretty much everything was mental/illusion except Benjamen's power or Renata's blocking. I thought they we're the only ones with the physical ability. If I remember correctly, Bella would be able to protect everyone against all but the physical abilities.
