:D :D (Yay!)

In case anyone needs it posted again, here's the link to the playlist.com playlist:

Oh my goodness! That's crazy, thanks so much for sharing with us! I've been meaning to read the series from start to finish again (haha) so I'll try it out with your playlist, sounds really interesting!
A page a minute seems to be about the speed I read as well, so hopefully it works out well!

Thanks again (:

So I did start the book to your playlist. I like it so far. There were a couple spots were I was listening to the music over the reading and I got confused but that was because I liked the song, lol. The only problem I am having is figuring out the music to my reading speed ratio. I am having fun with it though. :D

Woohoo! (in best Homer Simpson voice)

Do you mean you don't know what your reading speed is or you're having a hard time matching up your speed with the 1 page/min speed the playlist is designed around?

How to time your reading speed:
Okay, here's how I measured it: I took 3 pages where the pages are full of descriptive text rather than dialogue as there's more words on the page with descriptive text. Start a stopwatch at the start of reading, end it after the 3rd page and average the figure.(For those who are math impaired/not yet covered that in school, it would be to take the total time and divide by 3)

If you do it with just timing one page, you won't allow time to get past the "I must read fast because I'm timing myself" phase and into the actual reading-for-comprehension phase, which when I tested myself and few others starts to kick in around the bottom of the 1st page. That's why I do 3 pages and average it. I've found it to be more accurate.

Well I can figure it out easy enough. I meant that I am doing that thing you mentioned were I know that my reading is being timed by the music so I keep speeding up and then slowing back down. I can't keep it simple. I will work on that though lol.

I would not suggest trying to time your reading to the music - you'll just drive yourself up the wall. If you read slower and you're not done with a section before the next songs cues up, then hit pause and catch up. If you read faster than it, then just hit next when you get to a cue point.

Yeah that is what I am going to do. I don't feel like taking the time to try to rework something you worked so hard on. It seems like a stupid idea to me. Good music! I am having tons of fun with you music choices. The begining reminded me so much of the movie it was almost bizzare for me lol. Thank you again. :D

I think it really depends though. Like you said, I find it difficult reading while there is music on - that is to say, music with vocals on it. I eventually start thinking of the song, followed by some singing so lol. Anyways, I think if you were listening to just instruments (classical, jazz, or blues), it might actually enhance the experience.
One of the better Twilight fanvids I've seen thus far!

I agree with Bear... I think some instrumental music isn't that bad. I didn't read the other pages, but a few characters reminds me of songs. I guess it's because I like to write with music and I have this thing of posting the music that is the theme of the chapter on my fanfics.

Bear, you've brought up a wonderful point:

I actually had a similar request from my dad and sister when I started. I already have on the back burner (once I'm done soundtracking all 4 books (why bother doing MS if it's not complete?)) to do an entire playlist for each book of just classical, jazz, and other instrumental music, with no words or have the words be in Italian or French or some language I don't know/communicate with. To quote my sister: "It's hard to follow along with the words you're reading if there's other ones being put in your ear..." and to a degree I agree.

In other words/ to sum up, that's Phase 2.

I already have a few in mind: Rachmaninoff's Etude-Tableau #2 in A Minor, Opus 39 starting on page 354 of New Moon, for example. (The scene where Bella goes to jump off the cliff). I like the version by Evgeny Kissin best (if you can find it!).

The main problem I run into in trying to do this such that it can be shared is that there's really not that much classical or jazz available in a free share-able format. There's maybe enough appropriate classical on playlist.com to soundtrack one, maybe two books, but not all four. I mean, really popular classical is on there like Beethoven's symphonies, but what about smaller pieces like Chopin's preludes, mazurkas or nocturnes or even, heaven forbid, one of Mendelsohn's Barcarolles ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfjzFg_Kz0A is an excellent version of one of the ones I learned to play when I was younger)?

Although I have to admit that doing this would set me on the Holy Grail path/snipe hunt of having to choose a piece of music to play as the Edward-composed "Bella's Lullaby", to which I faint at the thought.

Thoughts?

(By the way, I'm almost done with soundtracking New Moon!!!!!!! Can't wait to post it.)
