Re: Pronounciation Key
Yeay for you going to Forks! I am jealous. I'm actually excited to go. I just need a good weekend or few days off in a row that will coincide with my friends days off. I really want a shirt from Forks. If I would have known the Twilight Moms before, I would have willing joined them in the adventure!!!
I love the pronounciation key... I need a Twilight Dictonary!!! Naw, this is good enough.

Yeah, after reading through a few of these, I found out I had them pretty much ALL wrong. This is just a list of how i thought you pronounced it. It's for your entertainment:
Kachiri - (catch-eye-ree)
Kebi - (kee-beye)
Siobhan - (seye-obe-haan) [[what the hell, as I realise now]]
Carlisle - (car-lis-le)
Sulpicia - (soul-piss-eye-a)
Didyme - (did-eye-m)
Alistair - (awl-i-stair)
Makenna - (may-can-a) [[this one is ridiculous]]
Well, I hope it makes you laugh. Pfft! Ridiculous!

Re: Pronounciation Key
At first I couldn't pronounce Carlisle... i kept calling him Carlisle [carleese] was how I was saying it until I saw one of the Interviews on youtube... i totally disregarded the second "L". I also had trouble with Siobhan i said seebohan. I called Aro Arrow because that mede sense to me.
How would you say Eleazar?
Eleeazar or Elazar

Re: Pronounciation Key
WOW,
I so didn't know that Siobhan was pronounced like that.
I thought it was like sigh-ob-han.
LOL,
the others I had no problem with,
except for all of the covens that appear at the end of the book,
like what Siobhan was in.
A lot of those had wierd names...
But these posts really helped.
Thanks : )

Re: Pronounciation Key
Eleazar is pronounced like el-a-zar. Like how you would pronounce Eleanor, but replace the -nor with -zar.
I didn't have any trouble with Carlisle or Esme or Siobhan... but I still have a hard time thinking of Aro as ah-ro. I think its one of those language things. Like you pronounce it a certain way in different languages.
Example the province Quebec in Canada. In English its kwa-beck, in French its kay-beck. So Aro is like arrow in English and ah-ro in Italian, I think. And Laurent is lor-ent in English and lor-AHNT in French.
Kachiri is ka-chee-ree though.
Kebi is keh-bee
Alistair is al-is-tair
Makenna is mah-ken-na
Gianna is jee-an-ah
I pronounce Sulpicia ah-rohs-wi-f And I'm pretty sure Didyme is did-uh-me, but since no one speaks Latin anymore its hard to know about Latin pronunciations.
One that I still have a hard time with is Quileute. I study German and 'Leute' is the German word for 'people' and is pronounced loi-tuh, so I pronounce Quileute quil-loi-tuh, even though I know its wrong.
