Hey, I know this probably shouldn't be here, but I love your siggy!

Anyways, regarding the honeymoon, i think it was good to keep it like that, because I know a girl who's 8 years old, so a little more detail would have not been really good for her age.

Were the first 3 books vulgar? That's all I was looking for...we didn't need to fill in any blanks ourselves with those.

Did this 8 year old read the first 3 books? That's all I was looking for...

THERE WAS NOTHING!

Oh. God you're right.
Um, yeah, she's read all four. She's really nice and I was so surprised when she told me.

Edward4Ever - I like your fic! Awesome!

Since we're getting into the slightly off topic area of recommended supplemental fanfic, I have to add that I really love "Isle Esme" by BellaSCullen1 and her subsequent fics of the other scenes (some from Edward's POV!).

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4485051/1/Isle_Esme

Very much rated M, but it's not pornography.

Here's the A/N:
Quick Note: The story was written to work right into the book "Breaking Dawn", so if you read right where it cuts off, (Book One: Bella, Chapter 5, Page 85) you could replace the blank with my story and hopefully you won't be as disappointed with my story as I was when I found no magical detailed moment between Edward and Bella in the actual book. I honestly feel that this is something like what Stephanie would have written if she were allowed. If you're looking for smut, do not read further. I have made this as elegant as I possibly could have, meaning there are no slang words or overtly sexual references. It is meant to be the beautiful experience Edward and Bella should have had in the book.

Found this via the fanfic recommendation thread (page 5) under "In the Twilight Zone".

Now, back to the topic at hand...

edward4ever wrote:I have been reading the comments on this thread for months now and I am now ready to post my own. I usually go away from this thread upset, because comments are made about the YA crowd reading the books and it's better that SM didn't describe the wedding night too much, and it was "just enough". That's just plain "Malarky" (that's not usually the word I use to describe it though, :D , sorry)

To me, although I enjoyed the honeymoon chapter a great deal, it seemed like the editor just chopped out about 4 pages. It was such a huge departure from what SM had given us so far that it was a shock to the system! I was one of the people who went "Wait...what?" and flipped the pages back and forth to see if I'd accidentally grabbed too many when I'd turned the page. And then I thought..."well, okay, she's going to talk about it after the fact...Edward and Bella are going to 'discuss' their first night and how it went....that's fine, too." But then they really didn't.

It wasn't so much a disappointment that she didn't describe the sex, that's not what I was missing....it was the build up TO the sex, like she had built up EVERY OTHER make-out scene in the last 3 books.

I... just like Bella, "...burst into flames..."(pg 81) when Edward "...shrugged out of his shirt..." as he walked out to the beach. The anticipation was incredible! Afterall, SM has really been teasing us with this for the entire series....

Let's just get that out there and talk about the THE BIG PURPLE ELEPHANT in the room. WE ALL HAVE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS NIGHT AND IF YOU SAY THAT YOU WEREN'T THEN YOU ARE LYING! ;)

All I wanted was exactly what I had been given for the last 3 books. Just beause they were now unclothed, doesn't mean we can't still have touching and kissing in the "safe places". We can still talk about the fire in the pit of the stomach or the electricity zinging across the skin. There was nothing....and I was bummed. :(

I was so bummed, in fact, that I wrote my own...trying to keep SM's style in tact...and keeping it PG-13. It is attached to my sig if you're interested in reading it. I didn't post this so I could promote my fanfic--I wrote it months ago--I just wanted to give my opinion like everyone else has.
:D

Ohh my gosh i loved your FIC!! That's what i'm talking about - for the Honeymoon scene!! I totally agree with you. I did the same thing thinking "did i skip a page" what the!!! Holy Crow Batman did we miss something? I was anticipating the Honeymoon night. Okay yeah, a YA book - great - but a little of tension or build up wouldn't have hurted the book. SM didn't have to go rated "R" details about the sex, but more on the tension or the nervouseness EC and BS was going thru. Even the concerns Edward had about doing "it" with Bella.

I thought your idea on how Edward jumped away from Bella into the corner of the bedroom was an EXCELLENT added piece. I mean that even sounds like something Edward would do. Or how Bella fainted. I mean those parts were already given to us in book 1... It wouldn't have hurt to re-introduce that point back to us in BD. Or even the electrial impulses surging thru her body.

Any way i LOVED your FIC, it was very tasteful and it still allowed the imagination to wonder.

Ah, but were they ever as intimate as they were in Breaking Dawn? Nope. The closest scenes would be in Eclipse: the night Edward returns and moves Bella to the bed; and when Bella tries to make her desire known to Edward- both scenes done while fully clothed.

And as I said- I wanted to say vulgar, but that was too strong. "Crude" is perhaps too strong as well. I'll settle for "described in some detail." There are young kids reading these books after all. In my opinion, it would have detracted from the narrative flow.
