Definitely! I think that the New Moon ending (the same as the ballet version of R&J), with both of them still alive, is so much more satisfying, though. =] Also, Juliet trying to fake her death to her family and friends was a little foreshadow for later books, I thought ...
The ages of the characters are very relevant, too – many people associate R&J with true love, the real thing, no questions asked. Bella & Edward are also quite young, so by running the R&J parallel, it's like Stephenie is saying that this is possible, this can happen when you're still at such a young age. We can take the story more seriously; it helps to remove the "obsession" factor from our minds, I think. What does everyone else think?
