Charlie saw Bella just about a month after the wedding. At that time Renesmee looked to be about the size of a three-month-old. Obviously, some serious fast-forwarding occurred if the baby was Bella's own. I don't think Charlie had any reason to suspect that Bella lied to him about being pregnant before the wedding.

I don't think Charlie's very stubborn. I don't think he's stubborn at all. He and Bella are similar in that sense, actually.

For example, Charlie grounds Bella, because she tried to kill herself, flew off to Italy without telling him first, and rode motorcycles (and though he didn't know it, she was actually trying to put herself in danger).
He was supposed to be extremely angry, but he still allowed Edward to come back after he emotionally abused Bella. He still allowed Bella free time.

Also, I think we were all expecting Charlie to throw a fit about the wedding, but he really didn't. He was more freaked out that she might be preggers, and when she ended up being engaged, he calmly told her she would be the one to call her mother. No fight. (Someone's probably going to mention that Charlie had reason to not put up a fight, because he understood Bella and Edward's relationship was so *deep* that he couldn't stop them, but that's not my point. I'm just saying he's not stubborn).

And then when Bella came back from her Honeymoon with a baby, he didn't throw a fit again. He found out it was her biological baby and he wasn't even angry. It would've made more sense for him to be, because to him it would mean she had lied when she said she wasn't pregnant.

So... yeah. :D
With Charlie i don't believ that he neglected Bella. He just didn't know how to be a parent. He barely saw his daughter while she was growning up. And when as Bella lived with Charlie he was learning to be a Parent to a teenager. I can understand hwo hard that could be for him.
And Bella didn't want him to pay attention to her anyway. She said she liked feeling as though she was living alone, because Charlie was barely there. I think if Charlie ever 'neglected' her, it was more because Bella neglected him.
Also i understand how it was hard to show emotion. I'm like that it is really hard for me when it comes to my family for me it is becuase i feel i need to be strong for them.
I understand that, too. :P

Yea i know stubborn wasn't the right word now that i think about it. Hmmmm what word did i want to say lol. He is quiet and keeps to himself a lot. And dosen't know much about showing emotion. I guess would be better. Thank you for catching me on this. Sometimes when i write these i can't think straight.

I could've sworn Bella mentioned something about Charlie being suspicious the first time he met Renesmee. Like, she had curly bronze hair that was unique to only Edward, and Charlie gave her a *look*, like he knew what was going on.

Also, I thought more time went by than that? The pregnancy was faster than most, but not by THAT much that it would be completed a month after. I thought it took at least 3 or 4 months instead of the 9.

No - it was just a month. Edward and Bella got married, what? at the beginning of August (I don't remember). They go to Esme Island, get pregnant immediately...then Bella is changed to a vampire immediately following Nessie's birth, and the day after she wakes up is her 19th birthday. When is Bella birthday? September 16, or something?

Bella was married August 13th--exactly a month before her 19th birthday. Renesmee was born about September 9th--three days before Bella's birthday.

When Charlie finally saw Bella he was shocked, hurt, and mad. He had been lied to steadily for weeks, and he had had it with all the deception. When he saw Renesmee for the first time, he was shocked by the baby's eyes--Bella's eyes. The hair, too, but those eyes were so exactly Bella, he didn't know what to think--especially seeing her size and development.

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess my effort was sort of a rambling mess.

i love in eclipse when charlie goes:

"well good for you kid!" after jacob says that he kissed bella, and then bella thought something like:
i thought that as a parent he should sound a little more concerned and a little less amused.
lol

I kind of agreed with Bella. She did break her hand, after all. My dad would be pretty pissed if a guy broke my hand and laughed about it, but maybe Charlie was just relieved things were returning to normal? I wish we had more insight— he was barely there for most of the books.

Well, Jacob didn't break Bella's hand. She did that all by herself. But Charlie sure could have gotten off the couch and taken a look at the damage, suggested ice, the hospital, etc. Then again, he was pretty used to Bella banging herself up ... but that's not much of an excuse in my book.
