I know. My dad's the same way.

And I was trying to get in the head of the person who said Charlie wasn't respectful. I thought it was funny that he kept jumping to those conclusions. I like him. :)

My dad also jumps to the same conclusion every time I say or do anything that could remotely be associated with pregnancy. He's been doing it for 10 years now, since I was in high school. It gets annoying.

I like Charlie. He's a pretty cool dad. His version of grounding was soooo different from my dad's version when I was growing up. I'd take Charlie as a parent any day. LOL

i think charlie really should have put more boundaries on bella and edward's relationship. i know, i know, it wouldn't have worked for the story, but it's another thing that if it were real life, would be really messed up.

Bella was such a good, responsible kid that I think he felt like he didn't have to worry too much. He definitely tried to put some boundaries up post-New Moon. But it's hard to prevent what you don't know about, i.e. the sleeping together.

yeah, he tried, but bella just ignored him. i don't know it bothered me a bit. she doesn't really have any respect for him.

Yeah, she clearly loved him, but she didn't see him as having much authority over her. I think it was because she never spent much time with him prior to moving to Forks, and frequently she was the one taking care of him rather than vice versa.

I thought, since Bella had been spending summers with him in Forks ever since he was a child, there could have been a bit more built up in their relationship.
They were both pretty reserved and quiet, but summer after summer might have built up something at least.

This was more a problem with the writing and character development, really. It seemed the characters were just born with the story rather than having had previous lives before Bella's arrival in Forks.

i feel like bella didn't respect EITHER of her parents, and i think it comes down to renee again. she didn't command any respect or authority.

Yeah, I agree. I think when the child becomes the caretaker, that doesn't exactly breed respect for a parent as an authority figure.

Hmmmm.
I didnt like the fact that he was so supportive of her being with Jacob that he'd support Jacob for kissing bella when she was unwilling to. :x He seemed sweet at times and I agree with people who posted before me that yes he was at TIMES a LITTLE neglectful but otherwise he was okay.....
