I think the reason why I love Jacob is because he seems so real. He talks like how anyone of us would talk, he's sarcastic and I love sarcasm, he's funny etc. Then the fact that he is the UNDERDOG (pun intended) makes me want to root for him. Edward has Bella's love in his hands w/ no doubts. But with Jake, he suffers so much because he can't give her up...

"Like a junkie with a limited supply, the day of reckoning was coming for me. The more hits I took now, the harder it'll be when my supply ran out."
"I have to give Bella up, cold turkey."

I think he ultimately understood how much Bella loved Edward when he told her.. "He's like a drug to you, Bella.."

Much like his love for Bella, She loves Edward the same way, like a drug.

In the end of Eclipse, I think I cried harder than in New Moon when Edward left Bella. Because in the back of my mind, I knew Edward really loves Bella and he was just trying to keep her safe by sacrificing and leaving her alone. Whereas with Jake, he truly loved Bella but I knew he had no chance in the world to win her over Edward.

"The clouds I can handle but I can't fight an Eclipse."

It's so sad and to me I still do not understand the readers that HATE Jacob. How can they hate him?? I know they want Edward and Bella to be together forever but how can anybody hate Jacob with all his emotional feelings and love pouring out of the pages??

Bravo, switzgal. I think you put into words what I've always loved about Jacob and just couldn't put it into words that would be clear enough.

I don't understand either why people don't like Jacob, it's baffling too me. I just think that his character development was the best throughout the entire series.

Now I was a little shocked when reading that he imprinted on Nessie but after thinking about it, it was obvious it was bound to happen because of his love for Bella and that emotionally he had to be connected.

Thanks. Glad to see more Jake fans!! Go Team Switzerland!!!

Here's another sweet/sad moment from that scene...

"Do I get another one? or is that asking too much?"
"You can have as many dances as you want."
He laughed "That would be interesting. I think I'd better stick with two. Don't want to start talk."
"You'd think I'd be used to telling you goodbye by now," he muttered.
I tried to swallow the lump in my throat, but I couldn't force it down.
Jacob looked at me and frowned. He wiped his fingers across my cheek, catching the tear there.
"You're not supposed to be the one crying Bella."
"Everyone cries at weddings," I said quickly.
"This is what you want, right?"
"Right."
"Then smile."
I tried. He laughed at my grimace.
"I'm going to try and remember you like this. Pretend that..."
"That what? That I died?"
He clenched his teeth. He was struggling with himself-with his decision to make his presence here a gift and not a judgement. I could guess what he wanted to say.
"No," he finally answered. "But I'll see you this way in my head. Pink cheecks. Heartbeat. Two left feet. All of that."
I deliberately stomped on his foot as hard as I could.
He smiled. "That's my girl."

Oh Jacob Black. How I go back and forth with my feelings for you. When he was first introduced, I didn't really think anything of him...except that he was the guy who explain what Edward truly was. Then...when it was obvious that he was taken by Bella, I was a little annoyed. He was such a pest!!! haha. But...as his character evolved, he became really interesting and lovable.

The thing I like most about Jacob is that he can sometimes be the "breath of fresh air" in these novels. Edward, Bella, and the rest of the Cullens are very intense at times...Jacob is always refreshing and he makes me smile. I never thought that Bella should end up with Jacob, but I've always been glad that he is in her life you know?

I didn't really identify with Jacob until I read his book in Breaking Dawn. That was an excellent idea from Stephenie. I finally understood where he was coming from....and I thought, "wow. this guy is actually pretty darn awesome...if only things were different! (aka: if Edward didn't exist).

I thought the fact that he imprinted on Renesmee was great. It explained his oddly close connection to Bella. The way he felt for Bella almost made me believe that he had already imprinted on her and never realized it. Once Renesmee came into the picture, it all made sense!! Yay for Jacob!

I'm not entirely sure this fits in here but it seems better than any other place -
Did anyone notice that Jacob gets really mad when Edward calls him "pup"? But he has no objection to the term "mongrel"? I thought it was interesting that he got worked up over the term pup but none of the other names Edward called him got any reaction.. I don't remember when this happened but I'm pretty sure it was in Eclipse.

Don't get me wrong that i'm team edward, I absolutley love Jacob. He was hurting so much inside, I couldn't feel worse for him...

I agree with everybody that he grew up a lot, but I think he was always very mature due to having to take care of his dad and having no mom and only sisters that weren't there. He did however get even more mature when he joined the pack, and then even more mature when he started his own pack and had to take care of Seth and Leah. I really appreciated him being nice to Leah, she realllllllly needed that and he was right there.
Thanks Jake, on some level we all love ya! :D

that's because "mongrel" is a derogatory term for the pack in general, just like "leech" to edward. "pup" however is a slam directly at him and his age and maturity level, it denotes that edward thinks that he's more mature than jacob, and it's condescending. "mongrel" is just rude.
