1. There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?
I have 3 : )

I hear voices in my mind and you’re worried that you’re the freak.- Edward Cullen

And you accused me of dazzling people — poor Jacob Black.- Edward Cullen

I fall down a lot when I run.- Bella Swan

2. Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

I think she feels a bit guilty, but I don't think she regrets it, maybe she thought it'd make a bad impression with Edward but no, I don't think she regrets it : )

3. Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
Because she is unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him. : )

4. Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears given that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

Because she's never loved anyone as much, she's scared that he doesn't feel the same way and that she isn't good enough for him.

5. The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
I think when he saved her yes that contributed to it, but I just think it was her fascination for him and that he was one of the only people who'd never asked for her to give him anything. Something along them lines xD

"Holy crow!" I shouted. "Slow down!".....

...."I always drive like this." He turned to smile crookedly at me.
"Keep your eyes on the road!"
"I've never been in an accident, Bella - I've never even gotten a ticket." He grinned and tapped his forhead. "Built-in radar detector."

I just thought that this was really funny, because i've never heard anyone say that.

2. Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
Not really, I think she just felt guilty because she thought it made Edward mad.

3. Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
Because she had already fallen in love with Edward, so I think that no matter what he could have been it wouldn't have mattered to Bella.

4. Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
Umm I think that when Edward basically growled 'Never say that', it had really hurt her, because that was how she felt, and she was in love with him already, and it was already too late.

5. The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
The first time they saw each other. :)

No, umm when she was in the woods and she had decided that it didn't matter that Edward was a vampire.

1. There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?

.........."my mind doesn't work right? i'm a freak?" among others...sounds like something i'd say

2. Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

...........i think so, but only b/c she possibly realized that she might get him in trouble for telling the vampires' secrets

3. Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

...........she is already hopelessly attached to him...it doesn't matter to her if he is an immortal creature, she is in love with him....she doesn't love him b/c he's a vampire, she loves him b/c he is edward...and she is not afraid of him either, so it doesn't matter to her that he is a "monster", because she believes he is a good person....no one said love was rational! ;)

4. Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

......i think maybe she misunderstood what edward was saying when he said "never say that" so harshly to her...i think he was reffering to the danger-aspect of being around her....and i think she took it as a personal rejection....so she was mad, mainly at herself for thinking that she may have a chance with edward....if i put myself in her shoes, that's how i would see it...

5. The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

i'll get back to you on this one....i have to think about it lol

"Like your thoughts are on the AM frequency and I'm only getting FM"
"My mind doesn't work right? I'm a freak?"
"I hear voices in my mind and you're worried that you're the freak"

2. Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
No
3. Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
That Edward is a vampire because she knows she loves him anyways.
4. Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
I think she was a little hearbroken and felt like he was rejecting her.
5. The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
When she sat next to him in Biology for the first time. After that she couldn't take her mind off him.

"I was trying to remember how to incapacitate an attacker - you know, self-defence. I was going to smash his nose into his brain"
Okay, so it's violent. But I just love how bluntly Bella puts it. :D
2. Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
Yep, damn right she is!
3. Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
Because she believes that whatever he is, Edward won't harm her or any human else and so she has complete trust in him. Plus the fact that she loves him.
4. Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
Frustration, because she's finally found someone who understands her and who she can love. But then he just throws it back in her face when she tells him what she feels. He just won't...take it, I suppose.
5. The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
When he saved her from the van. Mwa ha ha, she just didn't realise it. In denial!

When Edward is like "I hear voices in my head and you're the freak?" lol.

2. Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
Yea, I do. But I also think she's glad she's with Edward. She's NOT too sorry about it. Just a little worried she might potentially hurt is feelings.

3. Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
It doesn't matter to her WHAT Edward is, just as long as he exists...ahhh, and how I wish he did.

4. Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
Hurt. She wants very badly to be able to be with him always.

5. The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
Oh, wow. The first time they saw each other...I think she knew in her heart that she would always love him.

Oh, lets see..I like the part where Edward says something like "I hear voices in my head and you think you're the freak"..I know theres some more too.

2. Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
A little, but at the same time getting that information got her closer to Edward.

3. Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella? She loves Edward. Nothing else matters.

4. Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears given that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
It could be the anger mixed with sadness/frustration from feeling rejected.

5. The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
Hm, good question. I'm not sure it was an exact time, but built up. Between him saving her, his reactions to it, just starting to get to know him..it all built up.

My favorite exchange is this:
He sighed, and I watched with relief as the needle gradually drifted toward eighty. "Happy?"
"Almost."
"I hate driving slow," he muttered.
"This is slow?"

Its my favorite because its very normal and I think it shows more personality of Edward that I had seen up to that point. Just that he's kind of pouting, and Bella is being so cautious, when later on in the book its the other way around.

2. Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
I don't think she is regretting it because I think in the end she is glad she knows, even though it doesn't matter. She seems a little embarassed about it.

3. Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
Unconditional love, the heart wants what it wants. Bella makes a very mature realization in this chapter, she realizes that no matter what Edward is, no matter how bad or horrible it is, it would be exponentially more painful to not be with him. Her heart is really taking over here.

4. Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
I think she is genuinely hurt in this scene. She loves him, but she is still unsure of his exact feelings for her. I don't think she fully grasps that he loves her and that's why he tries to protect her from himself. "...I don't want to hear that you feel that way..." seems like the most hurtful thing he says. Bella could misinterpret his meaning in this. If it were me I would think that Edward didn't like me as much as I liked him, which she does eventually think.

5. The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
I think after her nightmare when she was forced to confront all the things in her head she didn't want to. I think it was while she was thinking about all the bad things that he could be that she realized it didn't matter. As time went on and she realized that he wasn't in school and she was heartbroken, I think she realized how strong her feelings were for him, then Edward threw in a little dazzling here and there and she was a goner. :)

1. There are so many humorous quotes from this chapter. The "zingers" keep coming. Which is your favorite from chapter nine and why?

I guess my favorite quote from this chapter was when Bella was explaining to Edward her theory about vampires and she talks about tricking Jacob Black into giving her information.
"Tricked him how?" he asked.
"I tried to flirt -- it worked better than I thought it would." Disbelief colored my tone as I remembered.
"I'd like to have seen that." He chuckled darkly. "And you accused me of dazzling people -- poor Jacob Black." (p.184)
I just thought it was funny that Edward thought Bella had the same kind of influence over Jacob that Edward has over Bella. It's just plain cute too. Egads, Edward.

2. Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?

Maybe a little, but I don't think she'll really start regretting it until later, when she sees the effect she had on Jacob.

3. Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?

The fact that Edward is a vampire doesn't matter to Bella because she already head over heels in love with me. I think in a way she has already accepted that there is a possibility that he could end up killing her. I think that she thinks that as long as she gets to spend as much time with Edward as possible before this happens, then it's okay. She's a romantic at heart.
About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was part of him -- and I didn't know how potent that part might be -- that thirsted for my blood. And thirdly, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him. (p.195)

4. Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears given that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.

I think she finally cries because she is actually sad. She doesn't think the relationship with Edward will last very long. Either it will end when Edward ends up killing her, or it will end when Edward finally decides to leave her alone for her safety.

5. The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?

Ha, I was just discussing this quote. I think she realized she was in love with Edward whenever he wasn't in school because of the good weather. She was so disappointed and heartbroken that she didn't even want to be in school without him there. The unconditional part comes from the fact that she has already accepted he is a vampire, and she is still in love with him. She can't fall out of love him, she is past the point of no return.

"and you accuse me of dazzling people? Poor Jacob Black." So so funny sympathy for Jake from Edward. How ironic.

2. Do you think Bella is starting to regret that she flirted with Jacob in order to get information from him?
A little because she loves Edward.

3. Much of the chapter centers around the phrase, "it doesn't matter". Why exactly doesn't it matter to Bella?
Because true love knows no boundaries.

4. Bella is on the verge of tears once and then finally does cry a second time. What emotion do you think is largely responsible for her tears givien that we know she only usually cries when she is angry.
She is worried that she loves Edward more then he loves her. And that she is hopelessly boring. She is angry at herself for thinking she is meant to have such an amazing person like Edward.

5. The chapter ends with the famous "three things" quote. What exactly do you think was the point where Bella fell "unconditionally and irrevocably in love" with Edward?
When he saved her in Port Angeles.
