1. What is Bella weeping for during that long night of mourning? Is Jake at the forefront of her mind or is she grieving for the humanity she is giving up? Do you think Edward knows what she is mourning over? What are the “adjustments” Bella has made which allow her to move on in the morning? The part of her that loved Jake is morning Jake. Edward thinks she's crying for Jake. The adjusted herself by burying the part of her that was screaming for Jake.

2. Why does Edward suddenly change his mind in the meadow? Is his about-face a response to what Bella has been saying about their wedding plans? What does it have to do with Bella’s grief the night before? Is his reaction disproportionate? He realized that he had been pushing her to do thinks she did not want to do. That Bella lives her life for her loved ones not herself. I does have to do w little with the grief the night before in that it made him think about his decision to leave her is what caused all that in the first place. He had been making all the decisions and she had just been following along and he was going to stop and let her make the choices from then on. Yes in a way it is disproportionate. Aside from leaving which I don't think he should have ever done. All of his stances on everything else have played out well. Given Bella a different view of things and allowed her to figure out what she wanted.

3. Why does Bella insist on waiting and doing everything as they planned? Does she feel differently about marrying Edward now? Or is she just determined to do things correctly? Which considerations do you think weigh most heavily on her: eg. saying her goodbyes, giving Edward the wedding he dreams of, having a care for his soul, committing herself publicly to him before becoming a vampire....or any others you can think of? Bella is Bella self sacrifficing to a fault. She doesn't really feel different about the wedding but it is who she is to give Edward what he wants. She does not want to take any chances with his soul even though I don't believe she thinks it is at risk as he does. I thinks what weighs most in all this is giving everyone a chance to say goodbye.

4. Who do you think is actually right about what would be best for them here, Edward or Bella? Well Bella agreed with him in the end so they both are. I totally got why he wanted to marry her I'm glad she finally agreed

5. The last chapter of Eclipse doesn’t leave us with the upbeat feeling you might expect when a book ends with its hero and heroine planning their wedding. Does the faintly elegiac note on which it closes make sense? Did it bother you? Did it make you worry whether Bella had made the right choice? The first time I read Eclipse I thought it was a waste of time. Like A lot should have been edited into New Moon or something. The end of the book was the only thing that held any meaning for me. This is the direction I had always wanted the characters to go so yes it made sense and no it didn't bother me. (BYW reading it again it was so not a waste, the character development here is wonderful)

She is weepiong because she hurt someone she loved over and over and over when all they have done is protect her. and also for edward who is being selfless by letting her choose and how he sees her suffer. edward knows of course because he asks her did you make the right choice. he regrets that she has to make a hcoice and it is agin what he is that cause her pain. Bella's adjustments are that she finally inderstands jacob is family but edward is a part of her. He is her other half and that jacob is just a small part of her but hte whole her or the part that could make her whole.

2. Why does Edward suddenly change his mind in the meadow? Is his about-face a response to what Bella has been saying about their wedding plans? What does it have to do with Bella’s grief the night before? Is his reaction disproportionate?
he changes his mind because he sees how it is hurting her. She is going thorough with the pan because it will make him happy and alice and her family will get an eding making them happy.
He understands that she will always choose him over anyone because after a night of grieving she still wanted him. He understands there is no true need for a wedding when she is hers and she is his forever.
His reaction is dispropprtionat and proportionate at the same time. The disproportinate part is that he is always pressing bella to wait for immortality. tell her tongiht is fine goes against all his other plans.
the proportionate part though is that he finally knows he has her forever so there is no need to wait anymore so h says tongiht is fine.

Bella wants to give everyone closure to make sure they see that she is happy. She feels ifferently now because she knows it really is the right tinhg to do and that he will be tie to her in a tangible way. She has him all to herself. I thnik the most heavy consideration is that she cant wait too long as she is gtting older and that saying goodbye wont get any easier so marrying him is best done sooner so she can actually be with him forever as she plans to do.

4. Who do you think is actually right about what would be best for them here, Edward or Bella?
i think that bella is right taht they should wait but edward is right about the marriage thing. It will cause her pain either way so there really is no need to get married but i thnk that might only apply if they were juist going for vegas.

5. The last chapter of Eclipse doesn’t leave us with the upbeat feeling you might expect when a book ends with its hero and heroine planning their wedding. Does the faintly elegiac note on which it closes make sense? Did it bother you? Did it make you worry whether Bella had made the right choice?
It does thought leave us with hapiness because we know they will get to be together forever. i liked the last sentence of that chapter " where it would stay conceivably for the rest of time" or somethnig like that. it brought closure like this is defintly the plan there is no gion back its a solid future. i thought bella made the right choice because if she did end up with jacob they wouldnt stay happy forever.

i didnt think edward knew what was going on, but he was there for her and thats all that mattered.

2. Why does Edward suddenly change his mind in the meadow? Is his about-face a response to what Bella has been saying about their wedding plans? What does it have to do with Bella’s grief the night before? Is his reaction disproportionate?
i was very confused at this point. does he want to marry her or not? it was a very backwards situation to me!

3. Why does Bella insist on waiting and doing everything as they planned? Does she feel differently about marrying Edward now? Or is she just determined to do things correctly? to make a lot of people happy. not just edward but charlie, esme, alice, etc.

4. Who do you think is actually right about what would be best for them here, Edward or Bella?
a mix of both, they each had ideas that would fit well and ideas that wouldnt.

5. The last chapter of Eclipse doesn’t leave us with the upbeat feeling you might expect when a book ends with its hero and heroine planning their wedding. Does the faintly elegiac note on which it closes make sense? Did it bother you? Did it make you worry whether Bella had made the right choice?
i thought bella would make the right choice, if she didnt edward would tell her. but, i was really interested in how her choice would impact the future.

Her lost love for Jake, a little bit of both, yep, she's marrying Edward.

2. Why does Edward suddenly change his mind in the meadow? Is his about-face a response to what Bella has been saying about their wedding plans? What does it have to do with Bella’s grief the night before? Is his reaction disproportionate?
He sees Bella is suffering and only wants to please her, yep, nothing really I think, and yeah kinda.

3. Why does Bella insist on waiting and doing everything as they planned? Does she feel differently about marrying Edward now? Or is she just determined to do things correctly? She wants to do thing her virsion of right, yep, yes, committing herself publicly to him before becoming a vampire.

I think she is only crying about Jacob, and occasionally that she is hurting Edward by crying over Jacob. I think Edward assumes she's crying about Jacob too, and he is probably worried that this means she loves Jacob more than him, that she might want to go and be with him instead. I think the adjustments she made were that she knows that she cannot live without Edward, he must be part of her life, but she can live without Jake, even tho it will hurt her terribly. She made herself realised this, and get on with the rest of her human life, getting married, saying goodbye to Charlie & Renee etc.

2. Why does Edward suddenly change his mind in the meadow? Is his about-face a response to what Bella has been saying about their wedding plans? What does it have to do with Bella’s grief the night before? Is his reaction disproportionate?
I think he changes it because he doesn't want to hurt Bella by making her do something he thinks she really doesn't want to do. He realises he was pushing her into this maybe a little too much, and the she was only doing it to please everyone else. I think maybe he decides to sleep with Bella there and then has a little to do with last night - seeing her so unhappy, he would want to do the one thing he knows she wants, that would make her happy.

I think all of the above reasons are valid. It would be a great way to ensure that she says goodbye to everyone, that everyone sees how happy she is with Edward and that he will take care of her. Plus of course, it will make Edward so happy and she will be ensuring his soul is ok. She wants to do everything properly now, and ensure that she is tied to Edward in every possibel way before becoming a vampire.

4. Who do you think is actually right about what would be best for them here, Edward or Bella?
Bella. I think she realises what Edward was saying before made sense; they should show the world how much they love each other, so that everyone knows that they will have a great life together!

5. The last chapter of Eclipse doesn’t leave us with the upbeat feeling you might expect when a book ends with its hero and heroine planning their wedding. Does the faintly elegiac note on which it closes make sense? Did it bother you? Did it make you worry whether Bella had made the right choice?
Not at all. I liked the ending, it was perfect for Bella. They were getting married, and she was making a joke about telling Charlie. I knew Bella had made the right choice, and I'm sure she did too!

Do you think Edward knows what she is mourning over? What are the “adjustments” Bella has made which allow her to move on in the morning?bella is crying for jacob and for how shes messed things up by hurting both the men she loves and knowing jacob will never be ok about this and they'll never be friends like before.

2. Why does Edward suddenly change his mind in the meadow? Is his about-face a response to what Bella has been saying about their wedding plans? What does it have to do with Bella’s grief the night before? Is his reaction disproportionate?
he is shocked at the level of pain she went through during the night and is determind to never make her feel like that, he realises his choices have caused her a lot of hurt in the past and decides to try things her way, i think he is feeling pretty low about himself, his self loathing kicking in, its an incredible moment though when he says
"I love you, I want you right now" omg and she manages to say no!!

3. Why does Bella insist on waiting and doing everything as they planned? Does she feel differently about marrying Edward now? Or is she just determined to do things correctly? Which considerations do you think weigh most heavily on her: eg. saying her goodbyes, giving Edward the wedding he dreams of, having a care for his soul, committing herself publicly to him before becoming a vampire....or any others you can think of?bella had all night to cry and think and made her choice, as she said in twilight the choice was the hardest part, but once it was made she stuck with it no matter how hard, she wants Edward to be happy, to do it "right" it actually is a very good way of showing Bellas strength of character, when i read this chapter i cried with bella and almost bit my nails to shreds, i cant imagine how anyone could loose it over another guy infront of the man they love, i know my man wouldnt be able to take that, i liked that edward asked her if she was sure...he of course thinks hes unworthy of her love ;)

4. Who do you think is actually right about what would be best for them here, Edward or Bella?
Bella is right this time, she knows she wants edward forever now and realising her love for jacob just makes that more real.

5. The last chapter of Eclipse doesn’t leave us with the upbeat feeling you might expect when a book ends with its hero and heroine planning their wedding. Does the faintly elegiac note on which it closes make sense? Did it bother you? Did it make you worry whether Bella had made the right choice?no it was good that it ended that way, jacob and bella were both hurting over a love that could have been, edward had won but he didnt feel like celebreating it knowing bella was still hurting over jacob, it was just right, SM has a good knowledge of love and its many lvels, i hope shes never cried like bella over anyone ever.

I think she's crying because of all the pain she caused Jake. She also doesn't want to live without him...Jacob's Bella, the tiny part of her that loves him, is torn apart. She doesn't consider the humanity as much, she already made that choice, even if the reality of what it means just set in. Edward knows she loves Jake too. I think he gets that that's why she's crying. She's let the little part of her that loves Jake be sad, and she's going to move on now and just push that part aside, get on with the choices she made. This is what she wanted, she really didn't have a choice.
2. Why does Edward suddenly change his mind in the meadow? Is his about-face a response to what Bella has been saying about their wedding plans? What does it have to do with Bella’s grief the night before? Is his reaction disproportionate?
Hmm...he's seen how sad she was and he wants her to be happy again. He'd rather just do things her way since all of the choices he's made have just led to her getting hurt over and over and he never wants to see her cry like that again. Also, part of him probably doesn't want her to change her mind.
She's actually thought about it and decided she'd rather keep his soul safe and actually say goodbye to everyone now that she sees what losing her humanity means. She thinks her parents deserve it. I'm not really sure what else...it doesn't seem like something she would do.
4. Who do you think is actually right about what would be best for them here, Edward or Bella?
Surprisingly...Bella! She's not usually right about this subject, but for once, she finally caught on.
5. The last chapter of Eclipse doesn’t leave us with the upbeat feeling you might expect when a book ends with its hero and heroine planning their wedding. Does the faintly elegiac note on which it closes make sense? Did it bother you? Did it make you worry whether Bella had made the right choice?
I liked it. When I first read this Breaking Dawn wasn't close to being out, and I actually thought that this was just a trilogy!! I thought Bella had made the right choice, and I just supposed that there wasn't anything left, all their plans just turned out...it made sense at the time. :P

Personally I thought she was crying over Jake. With Edward she was 'catatonic', but I think she just needed one night to cry and deal with it and think of every little detail and word and situation. And then she was done. Sometimes that's just what needs to be done.

2. Why does Edward suddenly change his mind in the meadow? Is his about-face a response to what Bella has been saying about their wedding plans? What does it have to do with Bella’s grief the night before? Is his reaction disproportionate?
He probably just realized that she's willing to do everything for him and to make everyone happy. He realizes that she's not doing one of those things because she really wants to make herself happy.. she's being selfliss.

Of course she feels differently.. before she just wanted it done and over with but now she realizes she needs to say goodbye and do things the right way.. There's no serious rush-rush and she can take care of everything the right way. Even though she doesn't want people to think she's small minded for getting married so young, she wants everyone to know she was happy and got Edward in the end.

4. Who do you think is actually right about what would be best for them here, Edward or Bella?
Edward at first, but then Bella after everything was explained.

5. The last chapter of Eclipse doesn’t leave us with the upbeat feeling you might expect when a book ends with its hero and heroine planning their wedding. Does the faintly elegiac note on which it closes make sense? Did it bother you? Did it make you worry whether Bella had made the right choice?
I loved the ending! And I did feel upbeat feeling when they were planning their wedding,.. it just seemed so perfect. Obviously the Bella and Jacob thing is very sad, but Bella dealed with it and made her choice and knows what she can live without. It's sad for Jacob,.. but there's a happy ending for Jacob out there.

I think she had to cry off her love for Jake.

2. Why does Edward suddenly change his mind in the meadow? Is his about-face a response to what Bella has been saying about their wedding plans? What does it have to do with Bella’s grief the night before? Is his reaction disproportionate?
He really wants her to be happy. Not in the future but nów. So he thinks him changing his mind gives her what she wants.

3. Why does Bella insist on waiting and doing everything as they planned? Does she feel differently about marrying Edward now? Or is she just determined to do things correctly? Firstly, she would care for his soul. The second would be saying her goodbyes. She wants to make sure that she leaves her loved ones behind 'good'.

4. Who do you think is actually right about what would be best for them here, Edward or Bella?
Bella.

5. The last chapter of Eclipse doesn’t leave us with the upbeat feeling you might expect when a book ends with its hero and heroine planning their wedding. Does the faintly elegiac note on which it closes make sense? Did it bother you? Did it make you worry whether Bella had made the right choice?
I thought it was a nice ending.

Probably both. I think she's more worried about Jake, but she's scared about losing her humanity, too. Edward might know how she's feeling, but then again, he might not... He often gets her thoughts wrong.

2. Why does Edward suddenly change his mind in the meadow? Is his about-face a response to what Bella has been saying about their wedding plans? What does it have to do with Bella’s grief the night before? Is his reaction disproportionate?

Because he decides that he wants Bella to be happy, and if sex will make her happy, then he'll do it. He probably knew that Bella was sad, so he wanted her to feel better.

I think she's still scared for her humanity, and she secretly wants to hold onto it for a bit longer.

4. Who do you think is actually right about what would be best for them here, Edward or Bella?

Not sure...

5. The last chapter of Eclipse doesn’t leave us with the upbeat feeling you might expect when a book ends with its hero and heroine planning their wedding. Does the faintly elegiac note on which it closes make sense? Did it bother you? Did it make you worry whether Bella had made the right choice?

Nah, I understood it since I knew what was coming in the next book.
