The Host Actor Choices

If you have a choice for a favorite actor to play one of the characters in the book, let us know here! Please note that as of Aug 2008, there are no plans to make The Host into a movie. This is pure speculation and wishing.

the only actor that came to mind immediately was after Wanda got Pet's body, then i thought she would like the model Lily Cole. Granted, Lily is a tad too old now, but i think she has the right image.



i found my ian! will estes, although he's 30. does the book say how old ian is?

When I was watching the Teen Choice Awards a couple weeks ago, I saw Chace Crawford and I immediately thought that he would be perfect for Ian. I think it was because his blue eyes are so striking against the rest of his features. I also think that the guy at the end of the book who is the leader of the other human resistance pocket (I think his name is Nate or something like that!) would be perfectly played by Shia Labeouf. I don't know why because he is supposed to have gray hair at the temples, but for me, the curly hair fits!

I chose Meghan Fox for most of my Host graphics, but this is pre-plastic surgery she did that kind of distorted her face. (oh, Hollywood.) I utterly love the girl they chose for Melanie on The Host Index's main graphic. I like model Sarah McSweeney for Mel, too.
As for the guys of the book, it's been so hard for me to find a real life person that matches the pictures in my head.

The whole time I was reading The Host, I imagined James Marsden as Jared. He was the first actor that popped into my head for Jared. It was harder for me to think of who could play Melanie, but I just watched Juno the other day, I think Ellen Page would be a good Melanie/Wanderer.

It's so weird that you say that because I thought the same thing about James Marsden...he's just who popped into my head while reading Mel's description of Jared, so as I read he was my Jared. And now that you mention it, Ellen Page would be a good Mel wouldn't she?! Although, oddly enough, when I read the book, even though I knew that Melanie had dark hair I saw

Kourtni Lind from So You Think You Can Dance. I know it's odd, but she has kind of an Uma Thurman look to her, which brought me to Kill Bill, which made me think "BAD A**!!" which then led me to Melanie. It could have just been because I was reading it while SYTYCD season 4 was airing.... hmmmm
