If I had to choose between both books I'd rather take the Twilight Series.
Why?
'Cause The Host wasn't what I expected. I mean I liked it but.... there was just something that wasn't there. If there was a sequel to it maybe I would reconsider. It just that this wasn't the best that Stephenie could have done to The Host. Only I did enjoy it. I'm not saying that I hated it. No I really did like it but I'd rather read the Twilight Series instead of The Host.
Yup...

why am I in a spot like this? :?
I can't pick because both books are amazing
The Twilight Saga has a very descriptive system that makes you thirst for more and has you itching to change the page but it's mainly focused on Edward and Bella.
On the other hand The Host is also a page turner but it focuses more on what is happening around Earth and how the aliens are the "bad guys" and stuff.. also how Wanda handles all these obstacles. It's very captivating .
yeah so those are some examples...as you can tell I can't choose :(

In "Twilight"....PLEASE DON'T KILL ME FOR THIS....I kind of got sick of the love story between BellaxEdward. I wanted some new element of the story to take place. "The Host" had romance, drama, action, compassion, even some horrific moments...and of course, the ending was a real tearjerker. Plus, this is the first book that ever made me BAWL...that's got to count for something.
I couldn't agree with you more! After finishing that book, I just sat there, silent, and thought to myself, "What an AMAZING book!" It had every element of the complexity of life contained in it. From the beautiful to the most repulsive of emotions. I've never felt so emotionally attached to a book. I found myself crying at different parts of the book.

If I had to choose between Ian and Edward, I'd choose Ian, hands down. He exhibits unconditional love. To read about his transition and awareness, it's just beautiful. I fell in love with a fictional character... AGAIN. Dangit Stephenie Meyer! You make it harder for me to find a real man in my life. I'm constantly going to be comparing men I meet to characters in your books!

I'm in love with Ian... anyways here's how the books go for me.

New Moon
The Host
Twilight
Eclipse/Breaking Dawn

I loved new moon, it just makes my heart pound to the point of unbearable, which is totally weird because it's a book. I just read The Host yesterday and OMG I totally loved it. I cheated by reading the last 10 chapters first, which I totally think made reading the beginning easier on me because I didn't find that hard at all to get into.. i guess because I knew what was coming? I knew to keep an eye on Ian and yeah... it was great! The Host and Twilight are a tie... but I could read new moon over and over again (and yes I do sometimes skip over the jacob stuff, not that I dog jacob but he's no edward)

BTW i have to point out that the way SM writes it completely pulls you into her work.. into her world which makes it hard to just pick ur favorite book... They are the same in the fact you are so drawn into the POV character. I love reading that and I'm not a reader - at all. I love how she writes. Now if she would just write a 'real' adult book ;) Yummy Ian and Roaring Edward.

you so cheated! lol i cant believe you rea dthe end first. that what i love about reading is not knowing whats gong to happen next..i can never read the end first.

i totally agree with that about SM. i always wondered after i read twilight if she was like just good at telling the twilight story or if she could write other things that pulled me in..and i have to say yess she can! she is amazing iwill read anything she writes..her books just seem to have excactly what you want to see in them!

I really really really love Twilight in all its glory...

BUT I really really really love The Host because I feel like it is a look into what it means to be human.

I have repeatedly said I love The Host more, but truthfully, they are so different that I think they tie in my book.

Either way I love how Stephenie can take an age old concept (like vampires and alien body snatchers) and completely change the rules. Both books stand out to me because their characters and story lines are so unique.

oh wow...lol. doesnt that just totally ruin the book for you though?!? there is no surprise and no getting all worked up cuz you know how it ends..with both the host and breaking dawn i was having a huge fit because i thought wanda/the cullens were all going to die. but if i just read the end first then yeah i wouldnt cry, but i wouldnt get that excitment of not knowing whats gonna happen...and then the feeling when everything works out..?

I really wanted to like The Host because I think SM did so great with the Twilight Saga. And I actually did enjoy the book, up until the end when Jared kisses Wanda right before she's removed from Mel's body. That diminshed my enjoyment of the book a bit. So while I liked it, I love Twilight so much more. But I did think there were some similarities, like I could see a little of Bella and Edward in Wanda and Ian, and the way Wanda was in love with Jared even though she knew Ian was her true partner reminded me of Bella being torn between Edward and Jacob.
