Jeff Bridges is who I pictured in my mind while reading it.

Kris Kristofferson, maybe?

Tom Waits? (He did that bit in "Domino" in the desert that made me think of him...)

J.K. Simmons?

The only person I see in my mind when I read is Sam Elliott. He's just right for the part.

What about Willie Nelson? I know it may seem odd, but he just fits my mental image of Jeb better than the other suggestions. He's worn the bandana and has the beard and looks like he could have survived the takeover of the world.

Jeff Bridges (he was EXCELLANT in Crazy Heart!) or Willie Nelson. I see him played by a guy with a beard. So these two are the ones that came to mind first.

I envisioned Kris Kristofferson (Whister from the Blade movies). I could just hear his voice saying the lines so clearly in my head.

I am a little worried about William Hurt in this role, I must confess. I've seen him miscast before, and it wasn't pretty. Hopefully my fears will be unfounded!
