Hello all!
I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekends. We found ourselves at the ball park much of the weekend watching my son's baseball team play in their end-of-season tournament. Their team has managed to win three out of four tournament games since Friday evening, and will play again Monday night with the winner headed to the championship game on Wednesday. Our team finished the regular season in fifth place (out of six teams) after losing a number of very close games. We're so proud of them as they've come on strong here at the end of the season. They refuse to give up and just find a way to win. We actually won tonight's game in a marathon lasting nearly 2-1/2 hours with extra innings, and the final score was 22-21! (It sounds more like a football score than a baseball score.

) In order to protect these young nine-and ten year-old boys' arms from overuse, there are very particular rules about pitch counts (the number of pitches the boys can pitch during a game, the number of pitches boys can throw on consective days during the tournament, etc.). Because we've played more games to get where we are than any other team left in the tournament, we've used more pitchers than anyone else...and finished tonight's game with a couple of plucky nine-year olds who've only pitched a handful of times in games all season. The boys have improved and have a great time together, both on and off the field....and that's really what it's all about.
Marielle~ We're glad to hear you and your bf have arrived in Canada safe and sound. Enjoy the road trip and check in with us whenever you can. Honestly, you haven't missed a whole lot around here and things have been relatively quiet now that the Cannes and Cosmopolis news has died down a bit.
Susie~ That's too bad that many of your students aren't able to finish out your class because they have childcare issues. You're definitely in the homestretch now, and will be able to enjoy a well deserved break since you won't start teaching again until after Labor Day.

That's too funny that you mentioned your Rob fanfics to
Brenda. I had just thought about finding my copy of the group fic and bringing it to share at HH Con. My son's b'ball tourney should be finished by Wednesday and we won't leave for the beach until Friday...barring postponements due to rainy weather, we shouldn't miss any games. Thanks for the grammar update....I knew I could cound on you or Brenda.

I'm so glad you and hubs are enjoying spending leisurely time with the kids, and know you'll make the most of it, as you always do.
Brenda~ I love the idea of the T-shirts you'd give Rob and Kris, and bet they'd find them funny too.

That is neat that Kristen accepted the MTV movie award from Jodie Foster, and I wonder if they've kept in touch through the years. They're kind of similar in some ways, considering how Jodie never really followed that "typical Hollywood starlet" path, either. They each seem to value their privacy a great deal, and Jodie sort of made her own way and went about things on her own terms, which reminds me somewhat of Kris. Your son should have a blast with those fun summer activities you've planned....heck,
I would have a blast.
Caryn~ I'm glad to hear you and hubs enjoyed SWaTH. I lvoe your tattoo and all it represents and can't wait to see it in person. Happy Anniversary to both you and hubs! The adjustment of your work hours makes total sense so your boys aren't home alone as long. Is this the first year you've left them both home alone all day, and how old is your oldest again? I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the wedding and were able to visit with family. I hope the new facility is a better fit for your grandpa and that he continues to adjust well. We see a number of the residents at the skilled nursing facility where I'm employed have various outbursts, from time to time, especially those with dementia. We try to do all we can to defuse the situation and have yearly training on how to deal with those types of issues, but I know it can be difficult. I've always loved working as a physical therapist with geriatric residents in particular, and try to remember that each and every resident has lived an amazing life, in their own right; and they each have their own story to tell; and it's my privilege and honor to be of service to them in any way I can.

Right you are,
Lynne.I'm glad you've recovered from your parents' Anniversary party and am sure everyone had a good time. I'm sorry you're dealing with that nasty cough and hope you recover quickly. What's the latest update on the editing process for your book?
Hello to
Sean, Ginnie, and anyone else I've missed.
