Re: Scott Westerfeld --The Uglies series
Uglies is the third best book series ever (next to Twilight and Maximum Ride) and I like all 4. I don't see what the big problem was with Extras, I thought it was pretty cool (though it might have something to do with me loving all things Japanese ).
I cried when Zane died too, but then I realized I could cross it over with Twilight and make him a vampire (he looked like one anyway )
Anyone agree Zane should be a vampire?

Re: Scott Westerfeld --The Uglies series
I'm 34 and I loved the Uglies series. I, like a lot of others, did not care for Extras. I was not much into popularity contests back in HS so this book was really shallow for me. Tally-wa. I need to re-read them again. Very imaginative and creative. They were in pre-production months ago according to imdb, but I haven't cheked on that recently. It was when I was checking on Uglies that I found out Twilight was already being filmed!! Hooray for Scott Westerfeld!

Re: Scott Westerfeld --The Uglies series
So, if we lived in their time and you were in Tally's position, would you run to the wild or stay and become pretty (assuming that the operation would actually follow through without being stopped)?
I, personally, would run off to the wild. I hate when everyone looks the same and when people tell you have to look or talk or speak a certain way. Even if I didn't know about the lesions, I am fairly sure I would run off anyway.

Re: Scott Westerfeld --The Uglies series
I was always for David. I got mad at Zane because I liked David and Tally so much! Zane was okay, I don't hold anything against him, but I didn't care when he died. I just thought, "Yay! Now Tally can get back together with David!" Sadistic, I know, but he's not real. So I didn't care for Extras, but it was worth it at the end just to know that something was happening with David and Tally.

Re: Scott Westerfeld --The Uglies series
I can't beileve I haven't found this before now.
I uber <3 Uglies!
I think my favorite was either Pretties, or Specials.
Pretties- all for Zane. If he gets vampireified, I get to do it. And keep him. He is MINE. (sorry, must lay claim now, but I love him!) You all can have Frizz and Peris!
Specials- Like, vampires, but without the bloodsucky sparkly thingy. Its so coooooollll... I would want to be one, if I lived in Pretty World. Screw the lesions.
Honestly, if I had to live in a futuristic world, I would pick Pretty Town over any other, and I've read a LOT of sci-fi future books. It'd be so much fun! Although I'd had being a Pretty, so I'd stick with the Specials...
And yes, I'd run off, but if they made me Special, I'd stay. And fight to stay Special, too. I'd like it better than being a vampire...
Oh, and i reallllly liked Extras! I don't see why people didn't like it, I thought it was really cool! Planet protectors, haha. Tally-wa is a hippie!
ZANE-LA. IS. MINE.

Re: Scott Westerfeld --The Uglies series
I read this a while ago and have recommended it (along with Twilight, of course) to all my friends. They are really great books. I was so sad when Zane died. I almost cried. I did not like Extras. Tally had changed way too much through-out the story and it kind of bugged me. I also didn't like Aya, because where did the oriental thing come from anyway???
After reading the series with my best friend, we started sounding exactly like them. We caught on to the fact that names ending in Y (not Shay, obviously, because her name sounded out an A) or IE would have -wa and names with vowels. So we were Tara-la and Natalie-wa. We also used bubbly, dizzy-making and brain-missing, because who wouldn't? They are such cool words.
