Re: The Sound of Music---What instrument do you play?
Seriously guys! We need more oboe players in the world!!!!
So since I'm a music ed major in college right now, I know a plethora of instruments:
-OBOE! <3
-Flute
-Piccolo
-English Horn
-Clarinet
-Bass Clarinet
-Bassoon (Learn this instrument. Now.)
-Alto Sax
-Soprano Sax
-Tenor Sax
-Piano
-Minimal guitar (my current project)
I would say voice too, however, I don't sing in the choir currently, but I am in ear training and have sung before.

WOOHOO a music thread! Never noticed this before!
Okay, so I play piano, and I'm in level 9 (in Canada, there's 10 levels)
Also I play guitar, but not as well as I play piano lol
Also, I took 3 years of music theory and am working on my fourth
Oh yeah, and in elementary school, I played the French Horn and the recorder
And I recently learned how to play Bella's Lullaby on piano, and I'm going to learn River Flows in You, but I've already learned the main themes of it and the arpeggios in the left hand by ear xD

Re: The Sound of Music---What instrument do you play?
The bassoon is the coolest instrument ever! I have big hands, so it's awesome to play because it's a lot easier! Did you know it hasn't been modified since it was first made? That's why it's so weird to play.
Gah music theory. It's really easy for me to understand, which I'm really glad. If I didn't play oboe, I think I would want to be really good at the French Horn. It has a really pretty sound and you're pretty marketable if you can play a mean horn!

Re: The Sound of Music---What instrument do you play?
Ughh, i know, eh? You know what makes me mad? The fact that I almost got perfect on my preliminary theory exam a few years ago! The ONLY mark I lost on the WHOLE exam was putting "B-flat" instead of "B" because I didn't notice the natural sign earlier on in that measure! Sorry, just had to say that! lolkeds723 wrote: Gah music theory. It's really easy for me to understand, which I'm really glad.
I agree, it does sound beautiful!keds723 wrote:If I didn't play oboe, I think I would want to be really good at the French Horn. It has a really pretty sound and you're pretty marketable if you can play a mean horn!

Hah! Speaking of bassoon and french horn! I just watched the latest episode of the college humor show on mtv and at the end there is a pretty funny joke about both of them!
I too forget random accidentals...those are the worst!

Ah, yes, there's nothing like a good music joke!
Although I have not seen that, because I don't get MTV in Canada
I'm watching Saturday Night Live, and Kanye West is the musical guest!

Seriously, if you EVER want to watch any mtv show, you can go to mtv.com and watch ANY show there for free. I love mtv because they understand the teenage group

Yeah, here in Canada we make up for it with MuchMusic, but we don't have all of the same shows mtv does lol
EDIT: We can't watch MTV videos on the internet It just says something along the lines of "Sorry, we can't show these videos outside of the United States"

Re: The Sound of Music---What instrument do you play?
I don't play any instruments. But when I was younger I used to like figuring out songs on those little $10 keyboards. Like, I'd hear a song on a movie or something and then sit down and teach myself how to play it. I wonder if I still remember any of them...
It's like a dream- no end and no beginning.
