Though David Beckham came here last year!
I'd definitely prefer to meet Peter Jackson than David Beckam (who's in Italy at the moment... ).

Talking about accents, I don't think there is anyone without an accent...I mean, there is a standard pronunciation for any language/country, the one you used to hear on tv until some years ago, but people have to study to reach it. Everybody has his own accent and I don't think that's a bad thing...I mean, it's part of who you are.

I agree about the accents. Everyone has their own!

My english teacher in 8th grade would always stress that it was an accent if their first language wasn't English and that it was a dialect if their first language was English.
I say he was crazy.

Oh, I think he actually got fired after my year because everyone scored so bad on the state testing. So, no worries there. He's probably working at McDonald's now.

HIhi talk about difference in country

I'm from Holland... the land of wooden shoes, windmills, legal drug and the Red light distric...
*shakes head*....
My country is very free, we have a national allergy agaist meddling....

I haven't been in to many other countries but the difference is very clear...
also here...posting... I have to be carefull not to let my free dutch mind get the better of me and post things that might offend other people...
Even Belgium which is so close to us, same language, etc. is different, more reserved...they think of us dutchies as crazy...

No I like the free spirit of this country, but sometimes I do long for a bit more manners. I always imagined the UK to be a country of civilized people, wel mannered and friendly, where the old values still rules. but maybe that's just a fantasy

I'm not saying all Brits are uneducated rude hooligans, but there is a large part of the culture that is. Just as every country has good and bad parts.
Not to undersell the UK as I love it here, but it's not at all like the Working Title/Hollywood version of things, there's very little reality in those versions
Ah wel....I'm trying to convince my BF to move to the UK one day... I love the country side, it's so unbelievable pretty...
he is giving in a bit....it used to be NO, now it's not now....
I might get the chance when my company is to open a office in the UK, there are plans for that but not for an other two years...
and I know my vision is a bit hollywood based, but I am watching the BBC a lot (it's the only UK channel we get here) so I know it's not all the fantasy I have in my head....
