I really enjoy using my shelfair, it's been really helpful for me.
I'm the same as Una. It's almost an obsession for me to update my Shelfari. (I even joined Goodreads too, but I don't like it as much.) I invited a few of my non-Internet friends to Shelfari because they read just as much or more than I do and they haven't been back since October. So, I think it just depends on your mind set. I like the discussion groups and the reading clubs on it as well because it gives me reading goals to shoot for. :) It's loads of fun!

I have a Shelfari widget on my blog too. I love that I have a place to keep all those titles poeple recommend to me. They will sit there patiently for me and I don't have to worry about losing "that piece of paper." I only review books that I've read since I joined over a year ago, but I'm obsessive about doing them. It helps me remember the book and I appreciate reviews that tell me what someone really thought and felt about the book without summarizing. I really thought I was doing my reviews for myself and was totally surprised when one came up as "most helpful". It didn't occur to me that others were using my reviews the way I use theirs. It's fun all around!

Wow. I feel really guilty now for not updating my shelfari as much as I should. I vow to go back and also review more books. I solemnly swear.

The joke of my list all year was that in a moment on senility, I thought, "Oh, I always get the year wrong." When I had correctly written 2008, I changed it to 2009 and unable to change it back, have been living with a year of comments from smartalics who think I don't know what year it is. So now I guess I get to do a second 2009 list. Last year's was just a dry run? Here's my list, I stopped tracking after about book 69. You can tell from the last title that I've done several more books since I finished the challenge. It was fun to tract the number of pages as well.

I love shelfari. I bookmarked my 50 book challenge thread, so every time I finish a book, I record it there, then add it to my shelf (if it's a new book). It's been so helpful in keeping track of what I've read. I set a goal for 100 books this year, and reached that before I went back to school (this fall). I won't list them here, or my post would set a world record in length, but here's where you can see my list and my shelf.

I try to make sure and always rate the book, but I only write a review if I'm especially drawn to the book, or I disliked it so much I want people to not waste their time reading it.

Spooky, to get the books in the order you want, when you're looking at your shelf, right above your books it says "sort by" and you want to choose "custom." Then, at the bottom of the shelf, click on organize. Then you can drag and drop the books in whatever order you want. When you're done, click on the same button (organize) that now says "done."

So, I didn't read 50, but I did read 28 books. 28 is the most I've ever read in one year. Last year I read 22. Before that, the most I had ever read in a year is 6. However, I usually read maybe 1 or 2 books a year, if that. So, this is a huge deal for me.

January-08
1 The Horse and His Boy by CS Lewis (pgs. 240)
2 Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia by CS Lewis (pgs. 240)
3 The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by CS Lewis (pgs. 256)
4 The Silver Chair by CS Lewis (pgs. 256)

February-08
5 The Last Battle by CS Lewis (pgs. 224)
6 And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie (pgs. 288)
7 The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman (pgs. 544)
8 My Father's Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett (pgs. 96)
9 Elmer and the Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett (pgs. 96)
10 The Dragons of Blueland by Ruth Stiles Gannett (pgs. 96)

April-08
11 Body of Evidence by Patricia Cornwell (pgs. 416)

May-08
12 The Doctrine and Covenants & The Pearl of Great Price (pgs. 355)
13 The Host (pgs. 619)
14 Mansfield Park by Jane Austen (pgs. 412)

Jun-08
15 Dragon Prince by Melanie Rawn (pgs. 574)
16 Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (pgs. 165)

Jul-08
17 The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory (pgs. 661)

Aug-08
18 Twilight (pgs. 498)
19 Breaking Dawn (pgs. 754)
20 New Moon (pgs. 563)
21 Eclipse (pgs. 629)
22 The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin (pgs. 216)
23 Breaking Dawn (pgs. 754)

Sep-08
24 Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo by Obert Skye (pgs. 339)
25 The Star Scroll by Melanie Rawn (pgs. 542)

Nov-08
26 The Thirteenth Tale by Dianne Setterfield (pgs. 406)

Dec-08
27 Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier (pgs. 396)
28 Sunrunner's Fire by Melanie Rawn (pgs. 467)

Total number of pages: 11258 (this include 156 pages from two books I started to read, but never finished)

I've just joined Shelfari today! I love it so far even though im still figuring out how to use it. I have a virtual bookshelf on my facebook and I write reviews on amazon so I think i'm going to love this site. I love finding people who love books as much as I do and seeing what other people are reading it's a great way of finding new books to read.
