My first language is Swiss German. It's actually not a seperate language, but it's completely different from the High/Standard German that you learn in school or that the people in Germany speak. If you don't believe me, check Wikipedia. ;) Naturally, my second language is High German. We have to use that in school and for writing official documents (in text messages and emails we usually use Swiss German where there are no rules for grammar/spelling) and when people from foreign countries are around who learned German in school and only understand High German. Learning High German is so self-evident for us here in Switzerland so that we usually don't see it as an extra language. My third language is English and I think I can say I'm fluent at it. Fourth language is French, we had to learn that in school and I'm pretty good at it. Fifth language is Italian. I'm so-so at it, I understand most of it but I'm not that good at speaking.

I think it's just cause some German words sound really cool.
