Re: How do you talk?
I haved lived in Chicago my whole life and I never thought I had an accent until I started to travel. I think it is really subtle, but I have been told I have a Chicago accent.

I don't believe I do have an accent, but apprently I do . . .
Very light Scottish, mine is very subtle Posh (I'm not though, but my school is and all those kids seem to have brushed off on me ) Edinbugh.
I hate how Scottish people and their accents are portrayed on film. People always say, 'do you sound like Groundskeeper Willie?'
Eh. No. I don't know anyone who talks like that!
I can do other accents. My fathers Nr. Irish, so I go over there a lot and can do the Dublin accent, and Northern Scottish which is a bit more like 'och aye the nooo', English, French, Russian, Southern American . . . mainly from my Drama training.

Same with me!! I've always said brat instead of bratwurst, apparently only Chicagoans do that. And we overephasize our short as? So we say Chicago differently than everyone else. I never noticed until pointed out, either.Dazzled_by_Cullens wrote:I haved lived in Chicago my whole life and I never thought I had an accent until I started to travel. Re: How do you talk?
I have a pretty strong aussie accent, and I seem to say a lot of words in "aussie speak". I never thought I had a strong accent till I went to visit my husbands family overseas, after a few times of trying to order food and the people not knowing 1 word that came from my mouth my cousin in law let me down gently that not many people know what I'm saying I made her and my husband do all the talking for me for the rest of the trip, they're about the only 2 people who always know what I'm saying

Re: How do you talk?
I have the strangest accent, it's very mild, but a little bit scottish.
Apparently I overpronounce my 'a's, so for example;
instead of saying Vanessa, I say something closer to Vanassa.
Very messed up...

How do you talk?
Like a valley girl and with my hands!
I don't think I have an accent anymore, I used to have a New York accent but a speech teacher remedied it. My mom says that I talk like a valley girl and with my hands. People seem to get a kick out of it but I never notice I'm doing it!
