Hi everyone :)

My nail wound is getting better--I can't really put a lot of weight on my foot right now, but at least I can walk if I keep that in mind. It'll probably be a few days before I can walk and do a lot of things I could do before this happened.

Not much news on Robstenation, either. But that band Fallen One will have an update on their site and You Tube page, that will consist, in part, of a trailer for a music video they filmed. This will be released Saturday.

I'm watching Top Gear and having dinner right now, but I'll be back soon. :)

Hello everyone~

Can you believe we're getting close to page 200 of this thread? It'll be time for a move and redecoration before we know it. Rob's Halfway House #9 has come pretty far in just five short months. ;)

Kristiner~ Hi there! It's great to see you again and you're welcome to sneak in anytime you want. How have you been, how's work, etc? Did you enjoy Breaking Dawn Part I, and are you looking forward to the releases of Bel Ami and Cosmopolis as much as we are? I happened to glance at the location in your avatar...."cookies and unicorns". That's quite a blast from the past, and I'd forgotten about some of the awesome discussions we had about Wide Awake over on one of the early fanfic threads.

Lynne~ Glad to hear your son is feeling better and made it through the day at daycare. I worked full-time while my oldest was a baby, and I can still remember fearing the dreaded call from daycare about a sick child, when I was at work. My daughter always seemed to get a fever or ear infection whenever things were just crazy, busy at work. Congrats on receiving the refunded tax return--every little bit helps. Your church sounds really neat, and I like the fact that you take turns meeting at one another's homes.

Marielle~ Thanks for sharing the gorgeous Robcrack today. The vacation/holiday convention you and your bf attended sounded interesting, and it seems like you received some great input and ideas regarding your upcoming trip to the states. What is a "blue Monday", by the way? I caught a bit of the Golden Globes and saw many gorgeous dresses. I thought Laura Dern looked especially pretty in her bright green dress. She doesn't seem to have aged at all. That's great news that you're booked at a hotel within walking distance of the HH Con hotel, and it will probably save your bf's sanity, to not be staying at the same hotel as the Halfway House attendees. :D I'm sorry you missed the chance to see Bel Ami and hope you get to do so again. As Lynne said, murdering your brother would totally not be worth it, as you wouldn't be allowed to watch Bel Ami or Cosmopolis from prison.

Susie~ Did you tell us your knee surgery will be the 25th of January, or is it scheduled for an earlier day? Sorry that I'm too lazy to scroll back to earlier posts and check. The parking pass will be more convenient for you and should take some of the stress off both knees. How much time will you take off work for recovery following your surgery? Did you have a nice time watching the Golden Globes with your friend, Mary?

Amy~ We'll keep our fingers crossed for some postive news with your job search. Sorry your hubs has worked so much this week.....I consider the Wii an absolute necessity in times like that to help maintain parental sanity, as well as familial peace and harmony. :D I would also like to read Bel Ami before the movie is released, if I have the chance. And like you.... although it will be a little disconcerting watching Rob act rather unEdwardly in Bel Ami, the naughtier side of me is eager to see Rob play the role of the scoundrel and cad. And watching him in a few.....ummmmm, rather explicit love scenes won't hurt either. 8-)

Jaclyn~ That's great news that you found new photographers for the wedding, and I'm sure you're very relieved. I know the higher costs are frustrating, but I imagine their level of experience as wedding photographers will be worth the extra $$$. I liked Sonnet 116 that Lynne suggested a few pages ago as a wedding reading--it was lovely.

Missp~ I hope you enjoyed your MLK holiday today. My kids stayed with my Mom last night as both hubs and I worked. It was a good thing I did work as we're already lower staffed on Mondays anyway, and then two physical therapists ended up calling in sick today. :? I hope TruckDriverBrian realizes what a mistake he made with his last minute cancellation of your date---it's his loss, my friend. As far as HH Con, I talked briefly with hubs about it last night. The good news is....he didn't act like I'd lost my marbles when I mentioned wanting to attend. :D The bad news is....I'm still not sure about our family vacation plans and whether we'll be at the beach during the time HH Con is scheduled. If you need to count me as an official "no", that's fine. Hubs is very busy and stressed with things at work right now, and I really don't want to add to that stress by asking him to pinpoint exactly his vacation time from work for the summer, just now. If I can still be a "maybe" for another week or so, I'll see what I can do....now that I've planted the seed, so to speak. ;) That's funny....but nearly every Food Network show you mentioned are ones that we watch as well. My kids especially like Chopped, Cupcake Wars, and Restaurant Impossible too.

Jenn Jenn~ Thanks for letting us know about Ann Marie. We look forward to hearing from both of you when you each have a little more time to post.

Songbird~ Sorry you're still dealing with fluid in your ear. I can imagine that feels rather uncomfortable and hope the ENT specialist can help you Thursday. That's really cool that you visited one of your on-line friends from the forums at Leaky. I never would have understood how such special friendships can develop through online interaction until I found the Lexicon, and especially the Halfway House. It's amazing how this forum (and others like it) has brought together people of all ages, places, and from all walks of life. Did you happen to see Dan Radcliffe hosting Saturday Night Live? I DVR'ed the show and haven't had the chance to watch all of it, but I thought he was pretty funny. He seemed to give a great live performance and appeared to be having a ball.

Ashley~ That's good news that your grandma is on board with you meeting HH members and attending the HH Con, especially since it's probably at least a little out of her comfort zone. I think you're right that we won't ever see a Twilight-themed television show. I don't think Stephenie Meyer has the time or the inclination to participate in something like that at this point in her career, and I assume that it couldn't really go forward without her approval. At least I hope it couldn't, as that type of thing would cheapen the Twilight saga somewhat, in my opinion.

Sean~ I'm sorry about your foot and hope it's okay--that must've hurt! Have you had a tetanus shot recently? That might be something to consider checking into, even if the cut doesn't seem to deep. Better to be safe than sorry, and all that.

Well, girls, I am a complete and utter nitwit!!!!

You know how desperately and impatiently I've been waiting for my publisher to read my book? Well, I was sending Caryn a copy today, so that she could check it for American errors and things like that, and I suddenly realised that the version I sent my publisher to read was THE WRONG ONE!!! It was an old, unedited version that I sent her. ARRRRRRRGH!!! I have just emailed the right version, and I'm hoping that she hasn't been reading it this week!!!!

Sean - glad to hear your foot's on the road to recovery!

Tracy
- yes, I dread getting that call, too! Although the thing I dread most is my son telling me in the morning, "Mummy, my eyes are funny," which means he's come down with conjunctivitis (pink eye). I hate that thing! It's a nightmare to get rid of, and it doesn't make him feel sick, so he's still just as energetic, and I can't take him anywhere!

Good morning everybody!!!

Gods, I feel so not awake… I’m not really in a state of working, but I’m again at the office…

I’ll jump to the posts immediately and do the Robcrack later…

Sean, that’s why my bf and parents always tell be to wear shoes or slippers, I normally walk around on socks and get cuts or bruises …

Songbird, I didn’t know there had been so many Escher expositions… though it’s not my favorite painter I’m fascinated by his mind, how it must work to create something like that…
Can you believe that my aunt was pregnant during her wedding, she was so tired that she stayed in bed for a day and shifted all the later appointments and family gatherings because she wasn’t able to walk…

JennJenn, the cruise ship is big news here in Europe, for once we have two days where the word ‘financial crisis’ wasn’t in the news… sadly that something tragic is the cause of that… my brother works on a cruise ship, he went back to it Sunday…I told him to stay away from big rocks…

Tonise, it’s better to keep my bf away from all the squealing and squeeing… he thinks I’m insane enough already…lets keep him in the dark about most things, though I hope he will be joining us for dinner…

Lynne, my brother is lucky that he is now somewhere on the virgin Islands and won’t come home until the end of May, by than I’m already forgotten I was angry with him…

Tracy, blue Monday is according some British scientists the most depressing day of the year…it’s the point where people realize their plans for the new year are failing, the weather is bad and all… to me every Monday is a blue Monday but I think more people feel like that…

Something good to start the morning with...

and one for us all...
(now we really need take outs from Vanity fair...)

These violent delights, have violent endings...Like fire and gunpowder, they consume what they kiss

Marielle: This was outside, and with thick soled sneakers on. And I can't find the entrance point on the shoe because it seems to maybe be made out of the crap that self-sealing fuel tanks on aircraft are made out of. It's only a cut, but it sucks trying to walk. I'm thinking of improvising a bandage for it to try and and make that easier.

Everyone: I haven't been up to much tonight and I'll likely be in bed early this morning. Kinda boring, rainy and coolish. So I don't really have much to write about right now.

But I'll be back later :)

Novel update: my publisher was trying to be nice and get my book read for me as soon as possible, so she was halfway through the wrong version. Now she's going to need to take a few weeks off from reading it so that she can clear the old version out of her head and not be distracted by it when she reads the new one. I'm really feeling completely and utterly idiotic for stuffing this whole thing up. It could completely change her view of my book.

Tonise, do you get Ready, Steady, Cook! there? Or Masterchef? Those are the ones we watch here. Well, I don’t know if Ready Steady Cook is still on, but we USED to watch it every night. Lots of fun…2 teams, each with a top chef. They have so much money to buy ingredients and then they bring them to the show and show the chef what they bought and their chef has to come up with ideas using those ingredients plus whatever basics are in the kitchen. Like I think they always have onion, cream, flour and sugar. They have 20 minutes to make all these dishes that they come up with and then the audience votes on who did the best job with the ingredients they were given. It’s a British show.
You know, I bet if you started singing regularly, your range would go back, or at least increase. I didn’t sing for a while after I had my kids and my range has taken a beating. When I was in college, a high D (above the staff) was in my range….right now, an A above the staff is about as high as I can go comfortably, but if I actually worked my range, I’d get it back. Good attitude about truckdriverBrian. Plenty of other guys out there and if he is intimidated, you don’t want to get mixed up in that. Happy Hug a short person Day! *hugs back*

Marielle, well…that was a nice thing to come home to this morning…lovely pictures. If only I’d had time to look at them BEFORE I took the kids to school and went to the gym…that would have been a wonderful thing to wake up to. Lynne had a very good point about not murdering your brother…I still think there should be a provision allowing for Twilight addicts, but alas, it’s not so and if you were in jail, you also could not go to HH con. And ugh…your poor aunt…pregnant for her wedding? I’d not survive. You said she couldn’t walk…did she have Bekken onstabiliteit? I had that with both pregnancies and walking was SOOOO painful. I was in a wheelchair for a bit with my son because of it.

Lynne, Oh that must have been so embarrassing to realize that it was the wrong version! And frustrating that now it will take longer! I hope she loves this version, though!!
As for music, in the church I went to back home, it was certainly not used as a crutch…there were no solos or anything allowed and they were VERY strict about the kind of music that was allowed. It was just hymns from the Lutheran Hymnal and even for my wedding, I couldn’t have the wedding march played, because it was not a piece written for use in church. I had a list of…I think it was 5 songs that were acceptable as a processional, and another slightly longer list that was acceptable for the recessional and then any solo or choral music had to be approved by the pastor officiating the ceremony and could not contain any material which stated something that you would do for God (I will worship you, I will praise you, etc) but ONLY that which talks about what God has done for you. For regular church services, for the most part there was no other music but the hymns. For a while there was a church choir, but they only sang hymns, and no solos.
Glad your son did well at daycare! And I hope he doesn’t get pink eye…that’s the WORST. My son gets that. And then he gives it to me. My husband and my daughter don’t seem particularly susceptible to it, thank God!

Sean, thank goodness you were wearing shoes!!! Yikes. I have a thing about my feet getting dirty…not exactly a phobia, but I just can’t stand my feet having anything on them, so I ALWAYS wear slippers or shoes. I never go barefoot. I even take my slippers to the bathroom to shower so I don’t have to step out onto the floor…I just step right into my slippers. So far, I have been lucky and never stepped on something like the nail you did, but imagine how much worse it would have been without your shoes on!

Tracy, my ear is not so much uncomfortable as annoying. The worst is at choir, because it’s just like plugged ears, you hear everything in your head. So it’s really LOUD when I sing, and sounds distorted, but because it’s so loud inside my head and I can’t hear well through the one ear, I can’t hear if I’m on pitch or not. And the higher notes really resonate in there so it kind of hurts to sing those…so I don’t. But as I’m a soprano, it’s hard not to be able to sing the high notes.
I didn’t get to see Daniel Radcliff on SNL. As far as I know, we don’t get SNL over here and HULU usually has clips, but HULU won’t let me watch the videos because I’m in a country that doesn’t allow it or something. I have to wait until someone posts them on Youtube.

Everyone else, hi!

I got a message today from bol.com and they sent my anti-virus thing, and the 2 books I ordered (New Moan, and Book of a Thousand Days), so I should get them today. YAY!

I’m FINALLY going to get some space in my house! I just need to get some boxes. My in-laws live in a city where there is this doctor who goes to Romania a few times a year to do check-ups and such on these kids in an orphanage there. He brings donated stuff like clothes, shoes, toys, etc….I’ve already donated all the kids’ old shoes and a bunch of dolls and stuffed animals (they had 1 doll and the kids had to take turns playing with it and who got to sleep with the doll in their bed). So I’ve had boxes and boxes of the kids old clothes piled in the shed until there was no room and we started piling them in our bedroom until I ran out of boxes and then we just started piling the clothes wherever there was room. I was hoping we would have another baby sometime and was saving the clothes for that, but I think it’s not going to happen, unless by some miracle we win the lottery. So, we’ve decided to donate all the old clothes to this orphanage in Romania. So I need to get boxes from the grocery store for all the existing piles of clothes and then start taking them to my in-laws whenever we go visit. I’ve got 16 boxes just in our bedroom and probably 2-3 boxes worth in each of the kids’ rooms, and I don’t even KNOW how many are in the shed…entire wardrobes for a boy and a girl since birth, up to 4 and 5 years old. Pretty good trade-off really…I get space in my house and I’m helping kids! And they get massive amounts of clothing. I’m very excited by this…is that weird?

I pulled a stupid this morning. Last summer, a salesman came to the door with a great deal on a gym membership and the coupon is only good until Feb, so I went this morning and grabbed the wrong paper…not the one with the coupon, but this emergency phone number list. Whoops…so I’ll have to start the working out tomorrow instead. On the up side, it took me 20 mins to bike there, and then I discovered my mistake and had to bike 20 mins back…so I at least got a cardio work out today!

SuperQwiktm Post -
The same virus Sonny Boy got on his computer is coincientally on my laptop since he used it yesterday! :(

Hmmmm....Coincidence? I think not. I don't know where he was surfing, but apparently he is clicking on a lot more links than I am and downloading and installing stuff as well. Yikes. Since it is my work laptop, I have to take it to my IT Guy and try to be vague about how it happened.... Wish me luck.

It's a good thing that I have nurtured my relationship with my IT Guy. I've given him the heads up that I'm bringing down my laptop because it has a virus. He said OK and then I said that it had a runny nose and a cough and a slight fever. He said he would cover it in a warm blanket and give it chicken soup. It's always good to joke around with those guys!!!

I may be without my laptop for a while, so pardon my reduced Lexicon activity in advance.

Love you all!

Well, I'm trying to get over my stupidity and look at the bright side. At least I got to her before she read all of it! Hopefully some good will come out of my error. That's what I'm trying to convince myself, anyway.

Songbird - hm, your old church does sound a bit restrictive! Although I think a lot of churches are a bit lax today with the songs they have. It's all the "Jesus is my boyfriend" style, and they're often so empty and shallow. At least, that's the way they come across to me! Good on you for donating all those clothes! I bet it will be good to have all that extra space.

This week didn't start out very good. The motor in the fridge burned out last night. We had to take our food over to my middle sister's house. We may not have a new fridge until Friday. Guess we'll be eating out the rest of the week. Eek. Also, we had a really bad storm overnight. It hailed twice along with super heavy rain & lightening. This morning, the wind was so heavy that it ripped the siding off the house right next to & underneath my bedroom window. That was a lovely way to wake up!

Ashely - *tries to stay upright & fails miserably* Hehe. I missed being here. So glad I came back. :D I really love your banner. It's so pretty!

Songbird - Hi! Nice to meet you, too. Yeah, I've been around since back in the days when we used the RP as EC thread. Then we moved here. Life just got complicated & I couldn't keep up with all the new people that had joined in on the fun here, so I "went on vacation" for a bit.

marielle You saw 100 Monkeys?? Ahh! That is so exciting! Yes, Jackson is quite a sexy monkey. Lol. I love his voice, too. I could totes listen to him all day. When did you get to see them? So sorry you didn't get to see Bel Ami. I'd kill my brother, too, if he did that to me. Argh!

Amy - I think you're right. And also, by the time they were able to get started with Twilight the tv show, most people will be over it & vampires won't be as popular anymore, so I don't think it'll happen. I hope you can get a job that you want. Sorry you didn't get the O.T. position.

Jaclyn - I'm glad you found a photographer, but it sucks that they're so much more expensive. I hope that works out for you!

Susie - Thanks for the welcome back! :) How did you hurt your knee? Sorry, I haven't been back in so long I don't know what's going on. :|

Tonise - Happy New Year to you, too! I hate snow. I really, really do. Lol. I hope it hasn't been bad there, if you got any. Unfortunately, my situation right now is not good enough for me to be able to go to HH-Con. I would pretty much have to win the lottery. :P

Tracy - Hey! Work was good until the holidays ended. Now I'm down to 5 stinking hours a week. I'm still trying to find a better job. Things are only slightly better cause I moved back in with my dad & stepmom. How is your life going? I absolutely loved Breaking Dawn Part 1. I saw it on an IMAX screen. Holy crow! That was amazing. I cannot wait for part 2! And yes I'm so excited for Bel Ami & Cosmopolis. *squee* Oh and the cookies & unicorns thing...holy crap it's been that long since I've been here? Wow. Now I kinda want to read that story again. Ha!

Lynne - So sorry to hear about what happened with your book. I hope the editor really likes it. What's it about, if you don't mind me asking?

Everyone else - Hello! I hope your weekend went well & that you're having a good week. *hugssss*
