Re: Heavy Metal Music

Ahhh, a thread about the topic my life follows.
If anyone is interested, click on the link under my avatar to see my site - anyone who's talented or opinionated enough to review any metal, then prove it with some articles for me.
I personally listen to a lot of metal, a lot of other styles too, but 90% metal.
If anyone is interested, see my last.fm page - http://www.last.fm/user/pharmer4/
At this point, I am listening to Locus Mortis, from Italy.
My favourite thing is discovering new bands, although I could care less if they are popular or not - the opinions of others matters very little to me - hence I can listen to bands that some people think are "scene" or "garbage" or a "waste of time", and still enjoy them. I think I might be lucky that way, as there are a lot of bands worth hearing that people ignore because of other people's opinions.
Aha, while typing this, "Annubis" by Septicflesh has come on my pod. These Greek dudes sure know how to make some nice death metal!
One thing I find a burden with listening to metal is the constant crap metal fans give to each other and bands that are not "theirs", which just drives me insane. I hate the superiority complex people seem to have, and the bad attitudes people get.
I had one writer for my site that I ditched, because she kept saying how the bands we cover are not "extreme" enough, since we include rock as well as metal.
I also dislike when people get obnoxious. A writer I had from New York had to get sacked quick smart because he started hassling bands, stalking them, contacting them on myspace to give them shoot (rather than in person - at least that I can respect, because you'll have to back yourself up).
Camber, you'll be displeased to know the main band this guy was stalking was TBDM. @$$hole had them wanting to remove any articles about them from my site before I sacked him.
Arr, now "The Watchers (Between The Ages)" by Horologium is on. Very interesting this song, I recomend it to anyone who likes black or progressive - it fits in neither, but it is similar.
Anyway, if anyone likes to have good conversations about metal, I'm your man. I like to think I have a nice broad knowledge of metal history and current metal bands, and I am lucky enough to get quite a few CDs each week, often including nice gems from unknown bands, and sometimes crap from well-known bands, and vice versa. And check my site, you may find a new place you'd like to hand out and be a part of.
