Jaclyn – Sorry, I didn’t see your post before I posted mine. Here’s the explanation on
Power kiting – I couldn’t really find any videos of exactly what we did. This comes close though. It’s a lot harder than it looks. Some people make the kites do all the tricks like loops etc. and there are people who make crazy jumps and saults with it. You can probably find some examples of that if you google power kiting or extreme kiting or something. But we weren’t that good yet of course. ;)
It’s much more of a work-out than I expected it to be. My legs, arms, stomach and back muscles ache like hell today. Even my love-handles hurt! LOL There is a lot of force on the kite, so it can really drag you along. We started out with the smallest kite. (Which is the only one I dared to try.) You can handle that one on your own if you want, but the bigger ones can literally take you up in the sky or drag you along the beach like a ragdoll.
We had to start sitting down, because that way you have more leverage and - especially with the bigger ones – somebody else had to hold you around the waist. Man, those kites are strong! It felt like my arms were being ripped out from my shoulders. I’ve seen three people clinging on to each other for dear life and still getting dragged through the sand. And I don’t mean small people either! They were three big, strong men. Some of the more petit girls had to be held down by two people even on the smallest kite.
It’s A LOT of fun though and I hope I get to do it again some time in the future. Preferably when I’m in better shape, so I won’t hurt as must the following days. LOL

Caryn – YAY! For a Cosmopolis release date for the US! Actually, it opens today over here! Maybe I’ll see it this weekend! GAH! But I’m quite busy this weekend and I want to finish the book first, so maybe not… David Cronenberg is great, I agree. I must admit that I haven’t seen any of his other movies, but the pure adoration he has for Rob gives him an A+ in the good guy department in my book, hihi. Have you noticed how they look alike? I think I commented on that during Cannes some time ago… David could be Rob’s granddad! LOL (Although the one big difference is that I’m absolutely, 100% not attracted to David. It’s the age thing. I’m not a playboy bunny. ;) )
The sunburn feels alright. I have a big red stripe across my forehead though, which is not very attractive… But I did get my summer freckles, which I always like. It's the only color I get, since my skin just cannot get a tan. And “beating yourself up about stuff you forgive in other people” (OK this is a strange description, LOL) is not weird; I think we all do that. That doesn’t stop me from saying you shouldn’t though.

I'm off to work for my publisher today. Hopefully it will be a good day. There's so much to do at the moment. By the way, for those of you who have been praying for our business, although this week was looking bad on Monday, it has turned into one of the busiest weeks we have had in months! We have at least eight jobs today, which is very unusual for a Friday!

Also, those of you on Facebook may have seen a link I posted to a news video (US only viewing) of my sister-in-law and her husband being interviewed after their church in Dallas was struck by lightning. I thought I'd put the link here if anyone wants to see it.

Jaclyn - I hope your uncle's party goes well. Family get togethers are fun, aren't they? :)

Suzan - at least they didn't leave one of their instruments inside her!

Caryn - yes, I saw that clip of Rob on George's show. It seems like a very insightful interview. It's a privilege to watch interviews like that.

Hi everyone.

Susan: I checked out your SWATH review, and yes, I for sure would love to see the movie. Oddly, it kinda reminds me of the Castlevania games...kinda weird.

Everyone: Tons of K&R stuff at Robstenation, but it's mostly about Cosmopolis and not a ton of very new news about either Kristen or Rob. But James Franco has written in defense of Kristen and SWATH. I think that you guys would want to check that out, as well as some of the jokes that Rob and David Cronenburg have exchanged with each other during Cosmo promo.

I'll be back later :)

Sorry to double post, but it seems that there may be a SWATH sequel on the way. Universal has hired a new script writer, and Kristen and Chris have agreed to do as many as two more films if Universal see it as worth while for them to make a sequel.

Your thoughts?

Hi, Siblings!! It's been a busy day! I played in my Texas Hold 'Em life group tonight and came in 4th out of 9 which is terrific considering some of the group are SERIOUS poker players! :D Then, I went to a friend's birthda gathering a danced for awhile.
Detective Scott called tonight and we had a nice long conversation over the phone. We have plans to go to PF CHANG's for dinner on Saturday night. He is on call for the next 6 days, so I will have to meet him there in case he gets called out and has to take the city car to a crime scene.

HH CON MUSINGS:
I have been checking into things that we could do to get us into trouble during our stay in Chicago! ;)
French dining after Bel Ami ( it is a film set in FRANCE, after all!)
A stretch limo to get us to and from the movie and/or dinner!
Go over to the HH EVENTS page on FB and check it out! I'm having as much fun planning and "dreamin" as
the actual trip is going to be... well... almost! 8-)

HAPPY FRIDAY FOLKS!!

It seems even more quiet in here with Marielle away. I saw that she has arrived safely in Canada on fb - I can't wait to see all her pics! It's not a place that I ever think we will visit, but I would still love to see photos from other people's trips there LOL.

To the posts!

Suzan - Where about did you post your SWatH review? I'm being really daft, but can't seem to find the KS thread...
Yep we weren't gonna go on a summer holiday, since we are not long back from New York. But then we had some money left over from wedding gifts, so we thought, why not? Tenerife is generally pretty expensive to fly to from here (in fact, all the canaries are.. think it's cos they are pretty far away, as it's almost a 5 hour flight) but we managed to get flights for just over £220 each - which is really good for Tenerife! So we have booked it - only 11 weeks or so to go LOL!
I agree - it's so expensive to fly to the US! :(
Glad you liked the video!
Haha, extreme kiting sounds kinda mental! :P It must be kinda scary to almost get pulled up into the sky! But it seems kind of exciting too. Glad you had fun!

Caryn - Glad you are still able to get in your daily post, even if it is a bit later than normal. How come your work schedule has changed recently?

Lynne - That's great that you have lots of business at the moment! I hope it stays that way :)
Yes, family get togethers are the best! :D

Sean - I saw your SWatH sequel post on fb, but also just to say it here: I don't think they should! Although the movie doesn't tell the full traditional tale of Snow White, I still don't think it would work. Spoilers ahead! Since the Evil Queen is dead at the end of the movie, who is gonna be the baddie? Unless the bring her (or her brother) back to life... but that would be really rubbish I think!. I guess it would kind of answer a bit of the story they left open though - spoilers! If she chose the prince, or the huntsman (although I don't think there is any doubt; she chose the huntsman! Since he was the one who kissed her to awaken her etc!. But then again, I like the fact they ended it like that... So in short, I don't want a sequel! LOL.

Tonise - Glad you had fun at your poker night! I was considering playing poker at the casino tomorrow night, but I will prolly just stick to blackjack - as I can play that pretty well! Where as, I still need to think about poker too much LOL.
I hope you enjoy your date tomorrow night - let us know how it goes!

Well I'm off to go and get ready for my uncle's party. Have a great weekend everyone! BYE! :)

Jaclyn: Suzan's SWATH review is in the cast thread. As far as the SWATH sequel, Kristen seems to be for it, but only as long as the story is good. And based on the first film stuff, I don't know where they'll go unless it's a love triangle deal, but one would think that Kristen--and her fans--have had enough of that with the Twi films where Kristen/Bella was pushed aside, in spite of being the lead, so the guys could be used as marketing tools. Also, some of Kristen's fans say that they don't want her to be rushed into another franchise so soon.

I'm for it if Kristen is, but I have the same conditions--that the story is good and is believable.

As for me, I'm about to start to get ready to visit the library, my mom at work, get some groceries, and maybe visit with a friend for a while, just to check on her since I haven't heard from her in a while.

I'll be back later :)

Hi all! Not much from me lately. Just trying to clean and catch up on pretty much everything since it was all neglected during my class. Though I have started a basic list of what to bring to Chicago (13 days!) for HHCon.

Susie~No, the school doesn't do job placement - no school around here does (in fact I don't think I've ever heard of that for CNAs). Though that's a good thing for me right now because I won't be able to apply anywhere until the 7th of July anyway.

Tracy~Yes, most were older, but there were a few residents who were younger (ranging from 20s to 50s) and most of them were just there for rehab of some sort, though one of them is probably going to be there for the rest of his life.

Marielle~No, definitely not illegal. ;) Though I did look up rules/laws for hotels, just because I wanted to make sure it's the same since there are some differences at times for those types of things.

Tonise~I posted a reply on the HH FB page, but I thought I'd mention it over here as well regarding the French cuisine after Bel Ami. I'm all for it - and it sounds like a brilliant idea. As long as there is something besides salmon and duck (two HUGE french staples) I'm all for anywhere we pick.

And speaking of HHCon, I've been trying to catch up on idea posts over there, and just want to make sure I've seen them all. So below is a list of everything (I think) that's been mentioned as something we may possibly do while in Chicago:
  • SWatH viewing - though I think most of us seemed on the fence about it because of time, yes?
    Bel Ami viewing
    Boat or Bus tour
Limo ride - I think Tonise mentioned this for when we see Bel Ami, yes?
French dinner after seeing Bel Ami
Cirque Shanghi at Navy Pier - I believe this gets my vote for favorite idea so far, not counting Bel Ami of course. ;)

I think that's everything that's been mentioned at some point or another, but let me know if we've had something else added to that list. At this point I'm just trying to keep up with all the possible things that we'll need to vote on at some point or another for what to do while we're there.

On another closely related note, is there anyone who I could hitch a ride with when I get to Chicago? I'm supposed to arrive at Union Station at 9am (I know, it's pretty early, but the next train arrives late in the evening) and am trying to figure out if I'll be able to go with anyone else to the hotel, or if I'll need to start looking up ab numbers for when I get there. (Especially since my grandmother is really wanting to know how I'm getting from the station to the hotel.) If anyone else will be getting in around that time or before and would be willing to either pick me up, or share a cab, let me know!

Yikes, I am so slacking this week!! I'm really sorry. I can't promise to be better next week either, because I will be in Paris without a laptop. We will have my hubs' iPad so I can post pics to FB but that's about it.

On to posts:
Susie, a Monster High Doll is like a barbie, but it's a monster...it's a tv show on Disney. For some reason, Bug loves Draculaura. I think it's because she wears pink and has pink stripes in her hair.

Tracy, yes, FIL is doing really well, so we will be off to Paris next week. I am an obsessive list maker/organizer. My house is a MESS, but when it comes to planning things, I'm your girl. I might drive you nuts with questions and lists (my husband made a "list of lists" for our last vacation as a joke because I asked him to print out my lists at work), but people appreciate it later when they don't have to say "Oh no! I forgot the <insert important item here>"! Or "I wish we could remember what time that place opens."

Marielle, have a blast on your vacation! I can't believe you all are going to meet so soon!

Sean, I loved Kristen's best kiss speech...when she called on Charlize, I really thought for a second that Charlize might just jump up on stage and pretend to make out with her.

Suzan, not yet! We leave for Paris on Monday Morning!

Lynne, I'm glad business went well today! Sorry it's been in a slump!

I'm so excited for Paris! Only a few more days! It's my best friend's birthday today, and she has to work, which sucks...I'd much rather skype with her and iron out all the details. But we'll be seeing each other on Wednesday, which I just can't wait for!!
I found a box of old photo albums in the shed and have been having a blast going through them. There are pictures from my toddler years, from brownies, from cheerleading and plays...just so much fun! I posted a bunch on FB so my old classmates could see them. I love taking a walk down memory lane.

So, just so you don't get worried, we leave for Paris Monday morning and get back Friday night, but we will be staying with my in-laws that night because we get back after the kids are already in bed. So it will be Saturday at least before I can check in. And Sunday is the choir festival in my town, so I will be performing several times that afternoon and won't be home to be online.

Hi Everyone!

I am sooo sorry I've continued to be MIA from the Lex. It's really unacceptable considering that much of what's been occupying my mind lately is how very much I was hoping to get to meet many of you at HHCon! I had been so disappointed that RL was not cooperating (and really, it's still not) but I was able to work something out with my wayward spouse and... I will be able to make it to Chicago for at least part of the weekend!! :yahoo: I'll be flying in early Thursday and coming home Saturday afternoon. It's not ideal, but it's definitely better than not going at all and I'm just so happy and thrilled that it worked out. :D

Unfortunately, my marital problems are not having such a happy ending. (Which was part of the reason I had thought I wasn't going to make it to Chicago to begin with.) The last four months have shown me that there is little left to salvage between my husband and I, and it would be best if we went our separate ways. It would be unhealthy for us both to continue to stay together, and of course, that would be bad for our children. Choosing divorce hasn't been easy for me though as it goes against everything I was raised to believe in, but I was also raised to believe I am a person with worth who deserves to be loved and cherished, not disrespected and neglected. So I'm taking back my life. It's just a long and arduous process.

Anyway... if that doesn't say it all, I don't know what does. Life is still extremely busy for me, & still very much in transition. If it weren't for the HH Facebook group then I wouldn't know what was going on in the fandom at all, and even then, it's only because I get email alerts from FB that allow me to read the posts & see the pictures and comments from there right in my inbox. That doesn't exactly replace the Lex though, and I really have missed you all so much. I've missed the fun and reflective conversations that happen here (along with the Robcrack of course). Sadly, I cannot make any promises to get back to regular posting yet, but I am really glad to know that the HH is still here and I can always pop in for some love. ((HUGS))

Mega-Hugs to You All,
Ginnie
