I think I need some tutoring from Marielle and Suzan on bike laws. I went to the theater to pick up my ticket for the marathon tonight because I know it’s going to be insanely busy tonight and I don’t want to have to stand in line for an hour. So I rode my bike, but I got SO confused...when I go to work, it’s almost straight through...I only have to cross a street once on a roundabout and then twice straight across a street, and the first few times I went, I rode with colleagues so I didn’t have to worry about knowing the laws...I just followed their lead. But to get to the theater, I have to cross a street left where there is no stoplight. In America, you can’t cross lanes in an intersection, so you have to make sure if you are turning left that you are in the left lane. But here, there are special bike lanes..,and they are to the right of the car lanes. So if you need to turn left, do you cross over into the left car lane or do you stay in the bike lane and wait until there is an opening in traffic and cross? I ended up just getting off my bike and crossing at the cross walk because I didn’t want to break a law and I didn’t know what I was supposed to do...I felt so stupid!!! But I made it and I have my ticket. YAY!!!
So, once again, I’m mad about schools. Most of you know that I was upset last year when we were told the Christian school our children attended would be closing at the end of the year and we would have to send them to a different school. We looked at several different options and finally went for the public school because it is close and all the kids in the neighborhood go there, so it wouldn’t be at risk of closing..or so we thought. Yesterday we got a letter saying that they are building a new school...a bigger school, and our school and at least one other will be closed and all the kids will then go to the new school...that is not within walking distance. I am SO mad. Apparently they have known about this since 1999 and no one told us...they gave us a tour and “sold” the school to all of us as a great option for us so our kids didn’t have to go so far or worry about it not having enough students and it needing to close...and they said NOTHING about the fact that they would be closing eventually, too. Granted, the letter says it will open in 2016, so we have a few years...but my kids will still be elementary school age and that is just too far to ask small children to go...they will have to ride their bikes and cross one of the busiest intersections in our town. There will be no school in our neighborhood at all anymore. LIVID that they didn’t tell us. It would have weighed heavily on our decision...now our kids will have to switch schools yet again.
Sean, oh, ok...you said you were waiting for the Doctor to put the perscription through to the pharmacist, so I thought it was the doctor you were waiting on...the pharmacist can’t do anything until they get the perscription from the doc, obviously. Did you get it now?
I agree about Kristen’s dress...I didn’t think it was that bad. I was expecting much worse from the comments.
Hi Ginnie! Good to see you!!!
Hi Susie! Did you get to see the premiere afterwards? I didn’t know where to look for it today, so I haven’t seen anything.
Lynne, so basically, you’re like Diego the Animal Rescuer, but female and not of latin decent? Go you!
Tracy, how exciting! It’s nice to have a change. Do you know what you want for a comforter and such?
Mmmmm....potato soup. That sounds so good! I might have to do that soon. Good weather for it.
I’ve done that before...I almost always do my post in word first, unless there aren’t many posts and they will all fit on the page when I post so I can look back at what people have said. But before I had word on this laptop, I couldn’t do that, and I’ve made a few mistakes.
Brenda, did you happen to see Ann Marie? Did she get anywhere visible?
Ohhh,...good idea with the always correct spelling. I would add always the correct use of there/their/they’re, your/you’re, it’s/its, whether/weather, then/than etc.
Sarah, what did Jason make for dinner? Sorry to hear about the kitten, but hopefully you can still get one, even if it’s not the one you fell in love with.
Wow...my hubby likes Gilmore Girls so I don’t have that problem, although he isn’t really into watching things over and over and over.
Marielle, Have fun! I thought you were going to the whole thing today...I’m only going to see parts 1 and 2...they aren’t showing all of them here. But I’ll take it. I’ll probably have to wait till tomorrow to post my thoughts because I have to get up tomorrow morning to take the kids to school...I’ll need to go to bed as soon as I get home tonight.
So happy for you about the mortgage!!
See you all tomorrow!
