Re: The Count of Monte Cristo--the movie
I watched the Count of Monte Cristo in Social Studies class in grade 8.
I absolutely loved it at the time.
It took me forever to find the title of the movie.
I can't remember his name, but that old guy in the prison cell was cool.
He was so athletic and yeah. haha

This is one of those cases in where each the book and the movie are great on their own. The movie is great, but if we compare movies to the books they are based on, I usually pick the book. I almost thought that Edmond after the time in prison didn't seem as angry as he was conveyed in the book. And I wasn't sure why the hot air balloon was put into the film.

The Count of Monte Cristo was one of the first "adult movies" I saw, so it brings me good memories every time I watch it. The incarceration part is really well done in the movie XD

I'm assuming you read the book too? I agree with you. I usually find there are some small things that are left out that make a big impact on the movie. In the case of this movie, I felt like I was reliving the escape all over again. The scene couldn't have been filmed better in my opinion.cidluen wrote:The Count of Monte Cristo was one of the first "adult movies" I saw, so it brings me good memories every time I watch it. Are we talking about the most recent remake? I am going to guess that we are. I really love that film. especially now that Richard Harris is gone. His performance was perfect. R.I.P. Richard.

The movie was AMAZING! Like I was totally missing out. The best way to describe Edmund Dantes is with one word: GANGSTER. Basically. My favorite moment (visually) is when he steps out of the air ballon with his cane and walks down the steps, with his robe BILLOWING! Then all he says is "Greetings" and walks off! lmao. I heart Count of Monte Cristo/ Jim Caviezel period. *sigh*

I didn't like the air balloon because I didn't think it fit with the book version, but it did fit with the story so it wasn't that big a deal. Jim Caviezel is a great actor and part of the reason why I could not dislike the most recent film adaptation.
Adam, thanks for pointing out there is more than one movie adaptation! I just instinctively thought of the most recent remake because I've heard it's the most accurate and the previous film adapatation was made in 1934, not many have seen it.

It's my favorite movie everrrrr
Its message is so deep and real. I've watched it like 15 times and never get enough!!!
All the locations they used are mesmarizing, and Jim is perfect as Edmond Dantes!!!
