So, no one's mentioned Manic Street Preachers yet? They might not be very easy to get into, but once you do you're really hooked. Give them a try.
It's hard for me to recommend a specific album, since I love them all (almost) in different ways, but a good starting point could be the songs Motorcycle Emptiness or A Design for Life if you like the rock anthem kind of thing, or their very early stuff (EP New Art Riot) if you're into the more punky sound, or perhaps you could go straight for their third album The Holy Bible if you really want to get the darkest of dark. And I guess I'll stop here, otherwise you'll get a full essay! They're one of my two favourite bands ever, really I could talk forever about them...!

Emily Maguire's latest album 'Believer'. I've been listening to it alot lately whilst reading Twilight and some of the songs sound almost like they should've been written for it!
