When Stewart wasn’t at the Oscars last month, critics pounced again. Did she dislike Twilight so much that she wasn't willing to support it like Pattinson, who was a first-time presenter? Was she scared that the supposed secret romance between her and her costar would be too hard to hide if they appeared together on the same stage on Hollywood's biggest night?

Um, no! She had a very good reason for not being there—she wasn't asked. "If I was invited to the Oscars, I would be there in a nanosecond," she says. "If I got an invitation to the Oscars, I wouldn’t turn it down!"
So for all those of you who misconstrued her dad's comment to mean that she snubbed both Rob and the Oscars...you know what happens when you assume, right? ;)
I was very impresses with the newest interviews, she does a good job of digging herself out of a hole... but I am still skeptical about the Oscar issues. This answer doesn't address the comments her father made...

And some people have pointed out that this is all too little too late and that she is just saying what those around her are telling her to say.

But, I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.. just hope she has truly learned to be cautious of what she says and how they are going to come across.

I'm pretty sure that, for an actor, admitting you didn't get invited to the Oscars is like admitting you didn't get invited to, I don't know, the prom on steroids or something.

Hasn't a person close to you ever said something about you, or on your behalf that you didn't agree with? I'm not sure she should have to clarify not only what SHE said but also what her dad said. That's his opinion!

I simply loved Kristen playing Bella.

Just like someone said in the old thread, Kristen plays Bella, she is NOT Bella.
I like Bella so much that I avoid reading too much about Kristen, so I would not end up trying to hang on to her every little possible human trait (which would definitely ruin my image of Bella if I ever thought of Kristen as Bella).
However, I did read about her, and to tell the truth, I liked what I read. Even the negative comments. I could really see that she is who she is and that she is not gonna pose as Bella Swan just because it is her major hit character in the movies!
She is authentic and I like it, and by her great performance, I can see no other actor playing Bella in the big screens. :D

She does a great job at getting herself out of things because she's just that smart. I think it was great that she admitted she wasn't invited. At least she's not going to say something like, "Oh yeah, I just forgot when it was." or, "Didn't feel like going." She told the truth. As for her dad...heeeee should be slapped. Just saying.

I don't think its that big a deal not to be invited to the Oscars... especially when you've only had one big hit.

And when someone puts words in my mouth or says something about me that I don't agree with, I set the record straight with whomever they said it to... maybe that's just me.

BUT, I wasn't trying to bring negativity back into this topic. I honestly do have a lot of respect for her...I just think it will help her career if she learns the lessons from this and ...not change who she is... but be more aware of the things that she says. A huge part of being an actor is promoting movies and if you can't manage to do that without putting off fans, then you aren't likely to last very long.

roseaurora, your sig thingy...is owl gay??? Ah, what guy wouldn't be gay for Edward Cullen :) lol. But you aren't the only one who does that. Many people actually do put things straight and you're right. Only ONE hit film, but what's Rob's excuse?

Haha! exactly... Owl only swings that way for Edward ;)

Rob's excuse was the same as Zack E (no idea how to spell his name...): The Academy wanted to draw in young fans and he is extremely popular in that demographic. It's a business...

You're probably right. My thinking it was a bigger deal that she admitted to the lack of invitation b/c Rob was not only invited, he was a presenter.

Oh yes :) Now, what's Rabbit's excuse??? Too late?

But still, many many MANY people love Kristen Stewart and I have the feeling that after reading that article, some people at The Academy will be expecting flaming bags of dog poo on their doorstep...just saying.

firstly, Heart_in_Hand, I totally support your position there, and you have made your position very eloquently. And I must say, it's not the first time i've seen someone from New York use their location as an excuse to be inconsiderate.

On to the E interview, my biggest point from that is how busy she is going to be - that's a lot of movies she's going to be working on soon. Good to see she'd be up for Breaking Dawn, although obviously it takes more than the lead actor to be involved for it to get off the ground.

Lastly, out of interest, how many of the people who don't like Kristen playing Bella are male?
