I didn't think Rob was trying too hard as Edward.
I just thought it was Edward trying hard not to eat Bells.

I think Rob did study Edward and work at him, because Rob's personality and Edwards are complete opposites. So I really thought he did a great job of holding back and not letting himself go. The only part I can see Rob is where him and Emmett collide playing baseball that was Rob.

I do agree with Jadey on Edward holding back from eating Bella
