I like the idea but for me, if I go or not all depends on location. If it is reasonable then I would love to go but otherwise I doubt I could be at attendence. I'm not really sure where a good place would be to host the ball because I would be a bit biased in my location choices...and I'm pretty sure no one would be very interested in traveling to East Tennessee.

Well since it is a event based around a book what about a charity for literacy.
*Thats all I've got right now*

A Charity for Literacy is what I was thinking we should do... but the question is if to just add a dollar amount to the ticket price or to just have each person bring a book for donation?

I have thought long and hard on this project and have it mostly planned out. I have to find a way to raise about $1,000.00 so that I can put down payments on things that need down payments and to get a head start on ordering certain things that will be needed... for example... little ribbons for handmade pins. The ribbons are printed so they are not cheap.

Another thing that needs to be addressed would be T-Shirts. For each person attending, they would receive a T-shirt that would have the name of the event. The price of these depends on the number ordered.

I am thinking of adding a ghost tour of Chicago as an add on... only this would be a very limited ticket event. (About 36 tickets would be available, maybe more... depends on what I can find... plus I believe i can set up a package that would include dinner.)

I am going to hold fund raising events to raise money for this event. The more money I raise the less the ticket price will be.

The Prices are as follows:
Banquet Hall: 5000.00 (with out catering and can hold up to 750 guests ((approximately)))
DJ: 1500
Souvenir Bag: 5000.00 (Includes Twilight and New Moon Goodness ((can we say June of 2010)), Candy, and raffled off super goodie bags... total of 4)
Catering: Approximately 5000.00 (Depends on the amount of people I decide on and what is ordered)

This all calculated to together comes to about 16500.00. Thats roughly about 66.00 per person (With 250 tickets available.)

The ghost tour is an extra 40.00 per person, I think. I'm not entirely sure.

This will be a formal event and it will be like a prom. I may rent out my town Recreation Centers Gym just to save money...

If any one has any ideas on how to help please private message me or leave a comment on this page.

Thank you!

Okay, since no one offered up any locations i have decided that if this ball goes into action it will be in Chicago. If anyone in the Chicago area who is at least 18 or older would like to help out that would be cool. I would like to put a group together to help me plan this.

I do have an idea for a banquet hall.

The ticket price will range between $60 and $100. I am aiming for a lower cost. The cost would include the banquet hall, the DJ, a goodie bag and a small donation to a literacy charity.

Thanks.

I think this is an awesome idea!
There should be more than one going on at the same tiem in different places.
The main one should be in Phoenix! Or if there is only one, it should be there too.
But that's just cause I'm selfish. =] lol

I saw your post about the age thing for people helping out..
but could you be under 18 and still go, without being 'accompanied by an adult'?

you can go to the ball if you are under 18... but in order to get a hotel or anything you will need an adult and an adult to drop you off at the location.

I'm trying to get a committee together...

I have a place picked out... Gardens Banquets here in Chicago.

The place is beautiful. I am thinking of room rental. It is cheaper and will bring the ticket price down from the original 120 to about 40-60 dollars if not less.

I am trying to find a way to raise the money for the room and dj so that i can bring the price down even more. Once i have the room I will put all ticket information up and get a proper site going.

I will also point out that anyone who is a veggie eater can let me know and I will see what i can do about getting you extra rice, veggies, and the like... I don't want to be that host... you know... the one that doesn't consider the dietary needs of the veggie eater.

I do know that this will be formal... and that a book donation will be the way to go for us... Which means that those attending bring a new book of their choice. If anyone who cannot come wishes to donate a book please notify me and i will see what i can do. I am still trying to find the right literacy charity to give the books to... again any ideas are welcomed.

I am hoping to hold this shin dig in August of next year... But i am not sure... I don't want to plan this to close to that of the Twicon... or to close to when school starts... so please help with that...

Any one with goodie bag ideas please let me know... I don't exactly know what to put in that... and also I was thinking of having a few door prizes... One major one... and then a few others...

Space will be very very limited. 250 tickets will be available. If i find another location then maybe more tickets will come to light... I am hoping for more.

I found a site that lists some possible favors for a Twilight party, here you go:
• Movie posters make great favors.
• Twilight themed t-shirts. Check out http://www.zazzle.com for hundreds of awesome and creative shirts and merchandise. You could also create your own.
• Twilight themed bracelets. Jacob gave Bella a little wood carved wolf charm on a silver bracelet. Edward later gave Bella a crystal heart charm to add to the bracelet. Make a bracelet with one or both of these charms. You could also add other charms that represent items from the book: a red bead (blood drop) a copper bead, a feather, a sun, an umbrella. A motorcycle, a stethoscope, an old truck, etc. Another option on bracelets could be to use bracelets with tiny frame charms and fill the frames with scanned images of the book covers, Cullen crest or other movie images. Charms can be found online. Treasure Beads in Layton, Utah (801-444-1938) also carries wolf and heart charms. Pre-made bracelets and other related jewelry can also be found online for purchase.
• Red apples, a chess set or a red/white ruffled parrot tulip would be great favors.
• Make chocolate molded queen and pawn from chess set. Check out this link for supplies: http://www.candymoldcentral.com/Scripts/prodList.asp
• Any Twilight themed product including buttons, stickers, bookmarks, key chains etc.
• A bottle of "shimmering" body powder. (The Twilight vampires sparkle in sunlight.)
• Make candy bar wraps with Twilight movie photos or quotes.

I just thought of something! :o
Design or have someone design Tshirts that say 'Twilight Charity Ball'
the date, time, place, ect....
I think that would be really kewl.
Maybe it could have two hands holding a book(with the name of the charity and its symbol), instead of an apple. :?

Those are pretty good ideas... I'm going to write those down... If you think of anything else just let me know...

Also, i was told that i should find a few sponsors... Now I don't know how to go about doing that so if anyone has any idea of what to do please let me know. If anyone has an idea of who i should ask, let me know.

For sponsors...since it's for literacy,
you should ask some bookstores, not necessarily Borders or Barnes and Nobles,
but ones in your area that sell Twilight. =] It'd be worth a try to ask
the bigger bookstores, but don't try that until you have EVERYTHING planned out,
they won't sponsor anything they think is a fraud or won't have a nice turnout.

edit:
I tried to search some ways to get sponsors,
all I could find that helped is this guide to tell you how to go about getting a sponsor,
it has some good tips/steps, if you want to check it out:
