Sad, but true twilightmom. For some reason, the 90s didn't matter to me. Weird, huh?

I usually like Cameron Crowe movies, except I fell asleep watching Almost Famous. *shrugs* I'll add it to my renting list. Hopefully, I'll be getting out of the house soon if the weather lets up.

ETA: I just checked Imdb and I was right, Eric Stolz is in the movie. It came out in '92.

Okay, CG - he was in the movie, but not a big part, come on!!

I had the computer shut down and then I thought of my 90's actress...

QOTD: Julia Roberts! She was it in the 90's!

Will sleep now and think of the 90's dude!

I've seen Singles several times and I didn't know Eric Stoltz was in it until I clicked on the imdb page for Matthew Perry. Eric played a mime...in make-up. CG wouldn't remember enough of this movie to remember that. Are you thinking Pulp Fiction?

I actually thought of Eric Stoltz before Matthew Perry, but Eric Stotlz is too old. He played Gen X characters in movies and tv shows.

Sorry, CG, George Clooney? He's way too old to be a Gen X'er. He was born in 1961. I can only think of ER for George Clooney. (Not that the man isn't hot) Jennifer Aniston is good. Her Rachel represented a lot of people moving to a new city and hoping to make it big overnight and instead becomes disenchanted for a while before realizing it takes hard work to make one's dreams come true.

I love Bridget Fonda. Her movie Point of No Return is one of my faves. Bridget was everywhere in the 90's.

Empire Records and Clueless also represented the 90's and Gen X. Alicia Silverstone's character was named Cher Horowitz...which is Winona Ryder's real name. :)

For some weird reason, Eric Stoltz popped into my head. I dunno. I've never really seen all of Pulp Fiction. Just parts. Besides, who could forget Uma and John Travolta doing the disco dance? Come on!

Very true. I actually thought of him because ER was all the rage in the 90s. Looks like I got to dig up some old People or Rolling Stone magazines to refreshen up my memory. LOL

GNE - I agree with you about Bridget Fonda, she was everywhere. Wonder what happened to her? I don't think she's made any movies since then. Who couldn't forget her and Jennifer Jason Leigh in Single White Female?

Twimom - I think the 90's was when Julia became the "it" girl especially with Pretty Woman and Steel Magnolias.

It seemed that alot of the 90's most popular or working actresses were more on the "mature" side but which I think was a good thing.

Julia represented our generation decently enough in Mystic Pizza and Steel Magnolias. She was born in 1964, so she's actually 44 years old, which makes her not a member of our generation.

I asked which actor or actress represented our generation in the 90's, not who was popular. Julia Roberts & Melanie Griffith were both popular then, but I wouldn't consider them as Gen X representatives.

I think Bridget Fonda, Winona, Uma Thurman, Drew Barrymore, Shannon Doherty, Alyssa Milano, Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Aniston, and Janeanne Garofalo represented us very well. They played characters that represented Gen X. Just my two cents.

New question.
In your opinion, what were the 5 best CD's from the 90's

Counting Crows - August and Everything After
Alanis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill
Alice n Chains - Jar of Flies
Stone Temple Pilots - Core
Nirvana - Nevermind

So I saw a thing on VH1 the other day that said that "Smells like teen spirit" was their number one song of the 90's. So if VH1 says that then maybe Nirvana.

For me personally, I preferred Alanis M. of any of the ones on your list. I wasn't much of a rocker, more of a pop/mellow kinda girl. In the 90's I mostly listened to my old HS and college music. Erasure anyone? Celine Dion? Frankly, I don't remember a lot of what I did or listened to. I think I must have lost brain cells. That happens with old age doesn't it?!

bac, i LOVED Erasure! Friends of mine had gone to England for a year when their father was on sabbatical and they brought back this wondrous music with them. We used to dance around the living room to it for hours. I also used to walk on the beach with my cassette walkman listening to them and singing as loud as i could. River Deep Mountain High was a favourite to sing on the sand.

Hmm...might have to dust off some Erasure tonight. How fun! Thanks for reminding me.

Edit: forgot my top 5 albums of the 90s

1. Pearl Jam-Ten
2. Alanis Morrissette-Jagged Little Pill
3. Pearl Jam-VS
4. The Lemonheads-It's a Shame about Ray
5. The Singles Soundtrack

Yeah, i was into the angsty stuff. I'm sure if i was asked again tomorrow what my favourite albums were i'd tell you something different.

Gah, I feel like such an outsider! *laughing now* Yes, this is my generation, but with the way I was raised, I have no clue as to what to post. I wasn't allowed to watch movies or listen to "worldly" music (as dictated by my Pastor). I haven't seen half the movies mentioned, and I've only "heard of" the bands. It makes me think about how much I really missed by growing up in a strict church. :(

I have Celine Dion's "All the Way- A Decade of Song" CD. It's so worn-out, there are a couple of songs towards the end that skip because they are so scratched. I really should invest in a new copy, since it has all my favorites on it.

Oleander we must be sometimes twinnies! I thought about my list last night and came up with:

Pearl Jam - Ten
Singles Soundtrack
Alanis Morrissette - Jagged Little Pill
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness
U2 - Achtung Baby (not my fav U2 album, but it was a big event in my life)
okay, I couldn't stop:
Sarah McLachlan - Mirrorball
Shawn Mullins - Soul's Core
Green Day - Dookie
Sheryl Crow - Tuesday Night Music Club
DMB - Crash
Blind Melon - Blind Melon
Hootie and the Blowfish - Cracked Rear View
REM - Automatic For the People
Weezer - Weezer

Sorry, I cheated and went way over, but I really couldn't pick. If I had to pick just the top 5 from those it would be: Singles, Alanis, Sheryl, Hootie, Smashing... I think... I could change my mind as soon as I post this!!
