I would suggest the Hunger Games as well, along with
The Wheel of Time series- an epic good vs evil fantasy tale, I love them.
Ender's Game- sci-fi, about an amazing child general who saves Earth from destruction by an alien menace
Anything by Tamora Pierce- she's an excellent fantasy author!

I'm starting Prisoner of Azkaban today, and any mention of Sirius makes me giggle/cry.
Not that Paper Towns didn't have it's funny parts, because it did -- it's just that a large chunk of it was totally crude humor, and that got old real fast for me. The poetry in it and symbolism from the poetry was really cool, I did appreciate that, but overall as a story I thought it was kind of . . . eh -- it just didn't do it for me. I had high hopes for it because it was #1 on a list for top YA books, and Hunger Games was #2. I was just expecting something better than the Hunger Games and I was let down.

So anyway, I'm just starting a book called Magic or Madness by Justine Larbalestier. So far it's OK.

Scarlet Moon was so good, it is like Edward & Bella with a bit of Jacob thrown in.

Reading ZEL by Donna Jo Napoli now.

Finished Magic or Madness, turns out it is the first book of a trilogy. It was a pretty good book, I wouldn't call it amazing or anything but the idea is a good one and I just hope the author goes more into the magical side in the next two books. The author is Australian so you get to learn Aussie words -- she even includes a nifty glossary in the back of the book. ;)

I'm just starting Everlost by Neal Shusterman, so far I like it.

I'm reading " Judas Child ". So far its about a young man that is a cop who is investigating the kidnapping of two 10 year old girls. He thinks its the same man that kidnap and killed his twin sister 15 years ago.
The girls are from a boarding school for young geniuses. It seems the man came from the same boarding school.
One of the girls is also a horror fan and is an expert at faking deaths.

I just started "The Book Thief" yesterday because I've seen it reccomended so many times on this thread. I'll have to read it quickly, though, since it's already over two weeks overdue.

Morning sickness can really kick your butt! I FINALLY finished Lucinda, Darkly by Sunny. It is a spin-off from her Monere: Children of the Moon series. It was okay. Not great, I feel she has plot holes and changes the plot in the middle, eh. Now I am on to Dead and Gone the latest in the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris.
