I had spent a long time watching him work. Well, attempt to work. I would ask question, he would look at me, get slightly distracted, then start again. I was enjoying every second but knew he would appreciate getting some real work done so after a few hours I went upstairs. It didn't take me long to get bored of being alone so I changed back into my black dress and went to find Gio. He was still painting.

"Hey painter." He looked down at me and his eyes went wide.

"You changed, again." I gave him an innocent smile.

"Well, I can't go shopping in an old shirt. And you can't go shopping in swimming trunks! So go change and meet me at your truck in a few. I laid your clothes out on your bed."

"Did you really need to pick out my clothes." He was shaking his head.

"Of course! You would have gone and found some ratty old shirt and jeans. My choice is much better. Now quit dilly dallying and go change! We have a full day ahead of us." And with that I turned and headed toward Gio's truck not giving him time to argue.

I rolled my eyes as I let myself back on the ground. I was covered in sand and charcoal dust- not to mention Roxy's name on my chest. I stopped at the door to the garage and called out: "Give me time to shower!"

With that, I blew into the bathroom. Hopefully the drain won't clog from the sand. I finished quickly, and rushed into my room.

I blinked at the clothes she set out: black silk button-up shirt, with dark jeans that looked a bit form-fitting. I shrugged and put them on, appraising myself in the mirror. They weren't that form-fitting as it turns out. I put on a plain pair of rubber shoes- the pants bunching up around my ankles- and met Roxy at my pickup.

"So, where to?" I asked, pulling out of the garage and stopping by the gate.

We sat in the truck waiting to arrive at our unknown destination. I was feeling quite proud of Gio's outfit and how it complemented my own.

"Well, we need to find a store that can sell designer dresses and suits. Or wait we could always go to a local place that would have more up and coming designers..." My voice trailed off. I couldn't decide which would be better.

"Boutique." Gio looked over at me questioningly. "What?"

"Boutique. I think a small boutique would be better than trying to find a place that sells Gucci around here."

He drove us to a little shop with dresses filling up the display window. "How is this?" I was giddy now and could barely contain my excitement. "Perfect! But I think we should shop for you first. I wouldn't want to wear you out too fast by shopping for myself." We climbed out of the truck and found a tux shop and I pushed him inside.

Wear me out, indeed. My charming little fox.

I sighed while she excitedly beckoned me into the shop. I eyed the selection, staring a little too long at the price tags on suits I would likely never wear if I had any say in things. She was already dancing through the racks, pulling clothes out and then putting them back, working in a rush of limbs and cloth.

"Hmm," she mused. "Pants first. Something sleek, that falls down the leg nicely..." She poked through another rack before throwing a pair at me. "Here. Now- shirt."

She led me to that part of the store. She eyed me as she worked, and I had the distinct feeling she was picturing me without the black shirt I had on. I caught something white.

"Now try those on while I find a jacket and tie."

I half-grinned and headed to the fitting room.

The pants fit well- not too tight, not too loose. The shirt was... interesting. She had chosen one that, save for the collar, hem lines and the front where the buttons were, was see-through. I stepped out of the room, feeling rather self-conscious at the stares of the female employees. Roxy giggled and clapped as she came into view. "You look wonderful!" she beamed.

"Yeah?" I whispered. "Apparently the help thinks so, too." Roxy batted her eyelashes at them, hooking her arm in mine and turning me back to the fitting room. I think she stuck her tongue out at them...

She stood me before a mirror. "Honestly, Gio. You spend your days at the house sans shirt, and this makes you uneasy?" Before I could protest, she held up a jacket. "Put this on."

I had to admit- I looked good. Then again, Roxy made anyone look good, just by being there. I smiled. "Aha!" she laughed. "You do like it!" She finished off the outfit with a black tie striped with diagonal emerald lines, tying it around my neck expertly.

"Tadaa," she sang, holding her hands out with a flourish.

I turned to chuckle at her. "You know, you need a top hat for a magic trick."

"You want to see magic?" she winked. "Let me show you a trick I call 'deep discount.'"

I laughed as I took the clothes off, put mine on, and followed her to the registers where she worked her magic on the clerk.

Poor guy never knew what hit him.

((Sorry, no- I haven't seen either of them since... Since the last thread, I think.

((Maybe her folks decided to cut her off from the computer?

((Or she could be on vacation. Strange that she didn't say anything, though.

((fourth line left wondering...))

I was practically flying across the street to the dress shop. Gio was happy with the outfit, I had gotten the clerk to discount it more than I had expected, and I was dress shopping. My world couldn’t get much better.

We walked into the store and were instantly greeted by a young man probably in his early 20’s. A woman stood on the other side of the room. From the looks of things, it was a family run shop. I flashed him a smile and he lost his train of thought. “Please, just tell me if you need any assistance. My name is Bruce if you need to call me.” I nodded as he walked off shaking his head. Gio watched him walk away and I patted his arm before digging through the dress racks. Gio was holding a few dresses before Bruce came over. “Let me take those and I will get you a room ready.” Just minutes later I was in the dressing room and Gio was waiting for me. I had to find something that wouldn’t clash with his outfit.

I opened the door and Gio’s eyes widened and he wouldn’t say anything. I was in a pink dress with the middle missing. It was too short to wear to the party but I tried it on just for the reaction. I just giggled and turned back into the room. The next dress was black lace. A floor length gown with long lace sleeves, I knew it would be hot wearing for too long. Gio raised his eyebrows at me and I gave him a little twirl. “I like that one.” I patted his head and realized I had an audience. Bruce was behind Gio, his mouth hanging wide open.

I came out in five or six more dresses all completely different. Some short, some long. Some were sleeveless or strapless, some had cap sleeves or long sleeves. Some were see through in parts, some completely covered my body. I was feeding off the reactions of Gio and Bruce. Both were similar in that half the time they were speechless. I loved every second of it.

I slid into the last dress in the room and knew that this was the one. It was a white silk halter gown that trailed the floor. I would need to buy heels. The skirt had pieces cut out of it that were replaced by a sheer lace showing hints of my legs. I stood in front of Gio and Bruce and Gio cleared his throat. “What do you think?” Bruce looked away and tried not to stare. “You look wonderful.” I let out a little squeal. “I knew you would like it. Bruce?” He just nodded and acted as if he was putting dresses back.

“She can ring that up for you over there.” Bruce pointed to the register.

“Oh I was hoping you could do it for me.” I flashed him another smile. “Please.” I started to twirl a lock of hair. He released the breath he had been holding in. “I suppose.”

I skipped to the register and winked at Gio. “Watch this.” I mouthed.

I heard the beep. “That will be $550.” Shock spread across my face. “I didn’t realize it would be so expensive. I think I will have to go somewhere else. I’m sorry.”

His hand caught mine. “Don’t go. Maybe I could discount it a little. How is $450?” I just shook my head. “Still too much.”

“I’m sorry. I can’t go lower. I’m not even supposed to give discounts.” I nodded and looked him straight in the eyes. I didn’t have to work this t0o hard. The boy was already entranced. “I only have $150 to spend. I will just have to go buy a prom dress at some department store. Thanks.” I turned to leave. “Wait.” He looked around. “You looked great in that dress. Just don’t tell anyone ok.” I nodded as I whipped out some cash and paid him. Soon Gio and I were walking out the door and I waved goodbye to Bruce.

“You are awful you know that.” I looked up at him. “I know!” And I began to skip toward the truck. “But it will be worth it when we walk together in these outfits.”
