i think that all the powers are cool. and i think it's probably influninced by what they did or could do when they were humans. we didn't hear much of the human lives of some (and for rennesmee no human life)

bella-she could somehow block out edward and she had a mental sheild to protect her and her family
edward- he might have been able to read people from the outside, maybe
alice-????????????? no ideas maybe she could predict what would happen.
jasper- he might have been able to make people feel what he wants them to

Not all those gifted vampires inherited their abilities through their personalities, because I don't think having premonitions is a personality trait. It's somewhat of a talent. But if I were turned into a vampire and had a special gift/talent it would probably be extremely fast. I can run the 100m track at 11.99 seconds. World record is 9.33 seconds. Or it would either be sonic soundwaves, as I have a loud voice and can whistle incredibly high pitch.

did anyone else find it a little, i guess annoying that a bunch of the vampires had all these talents? I mean, i know it said in one of the PC's that a good percentage of vampires are talented, but i just thought it was kitzchey that Eleazar could sense other people's talents. I think bella could have found out in another way and the story would have been just as smooth.

No. I rather think it's imaginative to produce vampires with talents, within her novels. Bella can only block others gifts mentally. I don't see how that relates to finding talent in potential vampires?

We know that James had unparalled senses (as Laurent stated), but I don't know what talent Victoria had?
But according to Stephenie Meyer, in Breaking Dawn (page 756) it clearly states that James and Victoria possessed a quantifiable supernatural talent.
