Unless I can figure out a way to get at least most of this all together on playlist.com... :D Then it's freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! (like the wind blows  )

Or unless someone can show me how to take a playlist on iTunes and make it public so everyone can listen to the entire song (not just a 30 second snippet)...

I can't figure out how to embed this into a post, but here's a link to my playlist.com playlist that has everything except for 10 of them (pretty sweet!). LOVE playlist.com. Very easy to use!

A much belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!

http://view.playlist.com/user/41516318

As such, there's some usable Youtube links now as part of the grid. Since there's a maximum number of URLs in a single post of 5, I'll post again 2 times more with the You Tube Links.

I'm thinking about substituting "Baby Can I Hold you" by Tracy Chapman with "Resurrection Fern" by Iron and Wine since I can't find anywhere the version that I want and I've completely fallen in love with "Resurrection Fern" and it fits the tone and timing of the scene. (The playlist.com playlist reflects this change).

Here's all the ones where I couldn't get the song via playlist.com. If I was able to find it on YouTube instead, the link is below. I'm not totally adamant about keeping these songs despite everything, so these would be the first to get traded out for something else.

To reiterate: I'm looking for direct substitutions, so must be similar in tone, similar length (within 30 seconds of the time listed) and of course, must fit the scene in question.

I don't like the regular album version as much so I won't link to it. This version is much slower, and meandering with just piano and harmonica and Jim Morrison's vocals are much more subdued. I've found places where you can listen to a clip, but not the whole thing.

Much more soulful. Too bad I don't have a way to upload it from a CD legally.

I have been working on getting some of these songs together on my computer. I did check out the link (thanks!) and I spent about 4 hours yesterday searching my computer and my CD collection to see what i have and what I wanted to buy from iTunes. I also was cross referencing with the Playlists on stepheniemeyer.com. I guess I am getting a little obsessive with this as well! Anyway, I totally appreciate the work you have put into this!

I am working on putting together my playlist to send you, but I got obsessive over than and started listing possible places for the songs. Well, I know that some of the songs belong in Eclipse, but as that is the book I have read the fewest times and my copy hasn't arrived from Amazon yet, I can't finish the list. As soon as it arrives and I have read it, I will finish my list and send it to you. ;)

I can't wait to read Twilight with your playlist going - I just have to get it back from hubby first!

You can always go buy another copy... We have 3 copies of the set in our house of 5 people because everyone's always borrowing copies to give to THEIR friends (I have 5 "converts" just since I got into the series around December 10th!)

If only this was an MLM, we'd all be rolling in dough!

I'm glad to hear someone's going through the list...

I meanwhile have cheated and started on soundtracking New Moon (but don't ask me about it yet! I'm far form done!) while I'm waiting for responses on the Twilight playlist I put together as above.

In other words:

I am starting to read Twilight to your list and then I will let you know. If you need any help then just let me know. I usually have some time on my hands.

He finished it tonight, AND my new hardcover arrived from Amazon (my FIL got me the whole set, hardcover, plus the soundtrack for Christmas). I am torn between reading Eclipse and reading Twilight with the playlist. I need to check how the paperback and the hardcover match up, because I have to return the paperback to one of my students on Monday. I wonder how much more of my vacation I can get away with sitting on the couch with earbuds shoved in my ears, a glass of wine on the coffee table, and a book on my lap? Good thing my daughter got tons of new things to play with and isn't harping on me to play with her yet!

Yaaayyy!!!! <Does "happy happy joy joy" dance>
Thank you Ali!! Knowing that someone somewhere is doing something with this and potentially enjoying it is giving me great joy!!!!! :D

As a reminder to anyone who might be going through the list (THANK YOU!!!!) it seems to work best if you make sure and cue up the song with where I've indicated it starts/belongs on the book. I've done this using little post-it flags/tabs in the right place, but if you're using the playlist.com playlist and referring to the grid I posted, then you can just put a little pencil mark in the book next to where each cue is. The idea here is that in many cases if you get to the next cue and you haven't finished that song - interrupt it (hit "Next" or ->) and start the next song on the list, don't let it play through as the next one will fit better.

The placement and timing is based on MY reading speed of 1 page per minute. If you read faster, then you'll be hitting "Next" regularly. If you read slower, then you'll need to pause when a song completes and catch up before hitting play again.

I think that hardback and the paperback are the same page length as the page size and print size is the same - it's only the binding that's changed (unless you're talking about the mass-paperback with the movie poster on the cover, in which case I'm pretty sure it WON'T match up. Hmmm. Let me know if that's the case and I'll see what I can to to modify the list so it will match up easier.)

Wait...

Have you not read Eclipse yet? :o  If not, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn take immediate priority!

No, I've read them all. But I didn't OWN them all until yesterday, and Eclispse was the one book I wasn't able to borrow as much, so it is the one I have read the least. But I read it yesterday. Breaking Dawn will probably take most of today and tomorrow. Then I will start Twilight with the playlist. I am going to try to time my reading today so that I can see my pace in comparison with the playlist.

I've been thinking about doing this for a while now, but I don't have the music, patience, or time. That's amazing, though. I'll have to try your songs soon. I've saved this topic as a favorite, and I'll let you know what I think when I get a chance to try it.
