I agree. Charlie and Bella are a lot alike. And if Bella doesn't really care if someone is a vamp or wolf, why would her father freak out about that? I think he allready guessed a lot, just like Bella had before she knew, and that he just doesn't want to know. He always like the cullens anyway, even though they were different. And with what Jacob showed him, being the kid of his best friend, i think it just didnt matter. Ignorance -is- bliss, he just wants to see his daughter happy, and be with her. People underestimate what they are capable off when a child is involved. A father would do anything for his daughter to be happy, and if that means that he can't have the whole truthm, than so be it. I even think he doesnt want to know, so he can go on pretending theres nothing weird about them.

Charlie's response really did surprise me. Knowing about how he's reacted to things in the past, I thought he would scream at Bella, or have some kind of overload. I didn't think he would remain as calm as he did.

I didn't really like Charlie finding out. It made things...too perfect.

I love how happy the ending is, but shouldn't there be some reality?

in all honesty, i found Charlie's reaction to the whole supernatural world WAY too unrealistic. It reall yjust was. I mean yes, it made it easier on bella's mental and emotional state, but come on! Charlie is overprotective and he has a short fuse. He shouldn't have accepted it so easily. I mean i love stephenie meyer, but i think she took the easy way out by having charlie accept all things supernatural without any problems or consequences.
He kneeled to the ground and pulled out a ring and said "Marry me Juliet, you'll never have to be alone, I LOVE YOU and that's all i really know! I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress, it's a Love Story baby just say... YES -Love Story

I was surprised w/Charlies Response to knowing Bella's different & seeing Jacob phase. It just seemed like to me he should have been freaking out, wanting to know what Bella did, did she know what she was doing when she married Edward, did she know about this stuff, how long had she known ( I know Jacob told him she's known for a good while but I would think he want to hear it from Bella herself), what's going on, etc..

I can understand him not wanting to ask questions because he would want Bella to stay around and still be in his life, but I would have though he'd be angry at Bella and the Cullens for lying to him. Parents usually don't take well to knowing they've been lied to and that their children have been basically doing stuff behind their backs.

When I first read/found out that Jacob told him I was really mad and wondering how this was going to work/play out. I knew they couldn't say anything because of the Volturi and so I was scared. I guess I just didn't expect his reaction to be they way it was. But I was glad that meant Bella could have him in her life still.

I wasn't surprised at all that, after initial shock, Charlie adjusted well to what was happening.

When Jacob smilingly announced that he'd phased in front of Charlie, I wanted to reach through the pages of the book, give him a high-five and shout, "Yes, finally! It's about time someone stopped treating Charlie like a baby. Good grief!"

I don't know how many times during the series I wished someone would just sit down with Charlie and let him know what was going on. He's not an idiot. He's not a gossip, or reactionary, or without intuition. He wouldn't repeat anything he'd been told, or butt in. If anything, he'd be an extremely useful ally.

And the poor man was getting lied to and run over more often than Poland in a theater of war.

Thank you, Jacob! *smooch*

Yeah Charlie probably knew at least that something was up with the Cullen's all along.

Charlie knew what the Quiluetes thought the Cullen's were. Billy had told him of the old indian stories about the "cold ones" and the La Push wolfmen. Charlie didn't believe it and would get very upset at Billy when he would bring it up. Like when the Cullen's left and the Quiluete teenagers lit the bonfire to celebrate...Charlie called Billy to find out what was going on and got upset when Billy told him what the fire was.

So, I think Charlie absolutely knew what the Cullens were once Jacob "shifted" in front of him and he saw that werewolves were real. He just didn't want to say it out loud* to make it a fact that his daughter was now a vampire.

*side note-I just TOTALLY thought of the movie when Edward says "Say it, out loud" to Bella in the woods!
I LOVE the sound of his voice and the look on his face when he says that!

I don't know why thats funny but after Charlie left on the ride home he was probably like "Well damn, my daughter is a vampire now. Great."

And since Charlie knew the whole legend he might have been tipped off when one of the Cullen's touched him in those two years. Come to think of it in the movie it makes it kind of funny when Bella tells Charlie she has a date with Edward.
