After watching Sweet Home Alabama, I quite fancy a Southern American accent!
Not an annoying one though!
One like Nicole Kidman in Cold Mountain!
You can throw in Jude Law in as well if you want!

I am often told that my speech tends to naturally fluctuate between "normal" and slightly accented. Which I find completely odd because I am the only one in the five generations of my family (that's living) to do it. I haven't the slightest idea where I picked it up.

I live in Devon, England. No i don't sound like a farmer, but i pop out with "'ello me luvver" every now and again and being in Bristol for uni means i say "Gert Lush" alot too.
For all the English people out there in the lexicon, do you call plimsolls daps? or do you call them something else?

Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow. How did it come to this?

Yeah, I've never heard of either of those terms. What are they?

Plimsolls are the shoes children wear when they're doing PE in school...not trainers. They are generally black material shoes, with a flexible sole. They can be slip on, or have a velcro strap.talirhee wrote:Yeah, I've never heard of either of those terms. What are they?
I call them plimsolls, but alot of people on my course at uni call them daps and it gets quite entertaining when we talk about stuff like that.
