Those are good ones! :D

I'm not counteracting what you are saying, but...

What did he think of the Volturi? I don't have Breaking Dawn (borrowed it) so will someone be so kind as to refresh my memory?

No book with me, so no exact quote, but he was muttering something about how the truth alone would not be good enough and the Volturi would look for any reason to start the fight. Remember the scene at the battle where Edward was saying "Alistair was right"?

What does misanthropic mean? That is how SM described Alistair. Well anyways, I think he was ok. I think Carlisle and some others thought of him as comic relief (example when he tells Siobhan warn Alistair, I wouldn't want him hiding for the next decade) He was an ok guy.

Oh, ok thanks! I think I remember that part now! :D

Wow, Stephenie Meyer seriously used that exact word to describe Alistair? Because when I said it, I was just using my own personal knowledge! lol

WOHOO pg4
I'm curious as to how long we can keep this thread going before it dies out and it becomes long forgotten...

she used paranoid to describe him, too.

Questions help keep a thread alive.

What modern literary figures remind you of Alistair?

I hope Alistair finds a mate as up-tight as him! :D I thought it was funny that he only visited Carlisle once a century.

Hmmm... i have to seriously consider that. No one comes to mind right now, but this will drive me nuts! Well, I haven't read Hamlet (im in high school lol) and I haven't read past the 3rd book in the Harry Potter series, but these works come to mind as works that may have characters like Alistair in them... anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: lol just realized I spelled Alistair's name wrong... I had originally spelled it Alasdair! I think the reason why I did that is (this is so awesome) there's actually a guy at my school named Alasdair! :D one of my friends is friends with him LOL

Well he's not exactly modern but maybe George Orwell (Eric Arthur Blair). He wrote Animal Farm and 1984 and both of those books suggest a strong dislike of authority. Or at least suggest the fear of authority becoming corrupt and totalitarian. Which is one of Alistair's most prominent personality traits.
