Re: Gen X---The Thirty-Something Thread
Hey, thanks guys. I honestly didn't post those things because I wanted sympathy. Just was trying to prove a point...which I'm not entirely sure I did.
Anyway, yes, on a lighter note...YEAH Dimber! Finding a place of your own is so totally wonderful. I love that I can call my home, my home. So awesome. I hope things go flawlessly for you.

Woo, Dimber!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! I hope things go smoothly on the financial end. House/apartment hunting can be a tiresome thing. I'm glad you found something that will suit you!

Re: Gen X---The Thirty-Something Thread
revrag, if you are any kind of exception, you are exceptional. Your spirit is strong and you persevered. You also demonstrate something that I only figured out a few years ago and am still paying for now...it's all about CHOICE. The choices we make shape our future. Much like throwing a rock into a pond causes ripples that may not cause damage immediately, they are felt later, further out in the pond.
My old roommate had an exceptionally rough childhood, spent a lot of time in foster care, running away, raising herself and she figured out early on, as you did, that it's about choice and her choices have lead her through her Master's Degree and she now works on a government task force to help kids who grew up in similar, if not worse, conditions than she did. She took the negative and is now positively impacting the lives of other kids.
I made some horrid choices in life and i'm paying for it now. If kids today could see early on how their decisions impact their futures and the lives of others, perhaps they would think more about what they do, how they act. I think I might have.
Dimber, hun, that's FANTASTIC NEWS!!! Congratulations!! I hope that the meeting re: the mortgage goes well and I can't wait to see photos!!

Re: Gen X---The Thirty-Something Thread
Oh man...dito...to all of it. That's just too funny. The 80's produced some of the most awesomely awesome music of all time! I have to say I enjoyed the 90's, too.
I can't even count the amount of times I sang into a hair brush and sneezed because the hair kept going up my nose. Or the times when I hair sprayed my bangs up all feather like because Debbie Gibson did, and she was the epitomy of cool.
Man those were the days....

Re: Gen X---The Thirty-Something Thread
Yes, I'll agree with everything posted so far. Need to add:
Come On Eileen,
Tainted Love,
Safety Dance
We Got the Beat
Jesse's Girl
Tenderness
Always Something There to Remind Me
I would pick Duran Duran's Rio, Hungry Like a Wolf or New Moon on Monday
Bang A Gong
Addicted to Love
Something Blondie (Dreamin' is one of my favs, but not as popular)
White Wedding or Dancing With Myself
Slow songs??? Total Eclipse of the Heart and Take My Breathe Away
Okay, I'll stop now!!
I went out to dinner with a GF on Thursday. Someone put Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go on like 12 times while we were there. I so wanted to text you all and tell you.

Re: Gen X---The Thirty-Something Thread
Hi everybody!!! Things are going well with the flat but I'm not able to post the pics until everything is settled down...
I must confess I was a child in the '80s so I don't remember much about music. As soon as I got old enough to go to parties it was already the '90s. More or less I agree with what you've posted so far: great songs. I can attempt a list of my favourite ones:
Wake me up by the Wham
Just can't get enough by Depeche Mode
Take on me by A-Ha
Friday I'm in Love by the Cure
Rio by Duran Duran
Notorius by Duran Duran
Tainted Love by Soft Cell
There are a lot of songs playing in the background of my mind right now but I can't recall the titles, sorry!
