I think that Twilight have a lot in common with Pride and Prejudice, more than meet the eyes at a first reading though. Indeed, the relationship between Edward and Bella and its development resembles very much that between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, at least in the first part.
In both books, interest is mistaken for dislike and a lot of misunderstandings come from that. The two lovers eventually confess their true feelings to each other (the meadow scene) and prejudices fall down.
Moreover, I think Edward has a lot in common with Mr. Darcy...probably it's because Edward is represented as belonging to another century so his attitude, his polite and almost formale speech, his tastes in music and literature makes him a perfect Mr. Darcy.
...we are such stuff that dreams are made on...

Hmm...they are more alike than I first thought ;)

*I imagine Mr. Darcy and Edward in similar lines because they both have...old-fashioned(not really how I think of Edward with his volvo but you get what I mean, right?)manners and Edward treats Bella the way I imagine most guys treated women...er...a long time ago, hehe...(ex.opening doors, buying her a meal, even if it was just a distraction to attempt to eat her, and actually proposing to Bella upfront)

*Edward seemed arrogant/angry at Bella at first, and just like in the books, he revealed it to be because he loved her from first sight(or as Mr. Darcy says: You have bewitched me body and soul!"

*Just like Mr. Darcy is dealing with critisiscm for the stupid, "But you're rich and she's poor!"thing, Edward is trying to get over the critisiscm of, 'Vampire with a human' problem.

*Elizabeth is the most mature and 'realistic out of all of her foolish and shallow sisters. Likewise, Bella is EXACTLY the same with her classmates in school.

*Mr. Darcy has a super nice sister who adores Elizabeth. Edward has Alice who adores Bella.

And, let's face it: They can both make their true loves' scream like little girls with their piano skills :P
WARNING: I cannot be held responsible for the above, as apparently my cats have learned how to type.

Mr.Darcy actually does not play piano, his sister plays very well and Eliza plays very ill indeed :-)

What about the whole Mike thing?
Is he meant to be the Mr. Collins character? He does have feelings for her... and follows her around. And then, once he is with Jessica he 'calms' down a little.
I don't know, am I clutching at straws?
It's just to me, he has that same quality as Mr. Collins... he's annoying!
And he's no Mr. Darcy/Edward!

 That's hysterical. It probably doesn't need to be said that Jacob is much more principled, and is definitely not a cad. Regardless, that's a good one.

Are you kidding me? Mr. Collins is a sycophantic dork! Mike isn't that bad. In fact, I get the feeling that half the girls at Forks H.S. are swooning for the boy. He's obviously sooo... not for Bella, but Mr. Collins?? :?

No, no, no. That's not a good one at all. Comparing Jacob to Mr. Wickham is rather close to blasphemy :x

My opinion. That's all.

Hehee.... I know what you mean. He just seems to me to have some of the same qualities.
Except for the evil-ness... and cad-ish behaviour.
But that's the great things about books.... we can all have our own opinions
