Re: Edward Cullen #6
Here's my two cents worth,
Edward does finally grow up and start to be a man over the course of the books. I think he was the boy for war too long. i do see Edward in a male point of view that is contrary to most on this threat (I like being the Anti-Edward). He does hold most of his pov of the worls which we only get to see parts of it, too bad it would give us a better insight into the real Edward but being written from a 30 somethign lady we are lucky to get waht we got. SM did a pretty good job in that respect...have the same issue when I write in reverse...Right Diane, I know your goign to chim in here..
So, in conclusion, he matures to a man while holding his core values, those that we get to see at least...

You been spending too much in the fantasy house where Edward can hold the hat up with no hands. Keep dreaming, or more like fantasizing...He's a monster just like all vamps...they bite you in the end...poor delicate flower Bella...

Sounds good to me, I will run in the meadow with someone like Edward anyday. That is why men do not get Edward and some
are too wrapped up in the "evil character" and the stereotypes that they fail to see the indiviual and the beauty that is there.

Yah and Jeff Foxworthy does a grest bit about women wanting a dangerous man. Here's a quote that you have tatooed to your eye lids, "Wanting is far better than having."diane771 wrote:Sounds good to me, I will run in the meadow with someone like Edward anyday. Re: Edward Cullen #6
Would this be a good time to break up this little convo. (which should have been taken to PMs I believe) and start a subject we can ALL be a part of?
Hey folks. Sorry I've been gone so long. JazzGirl said something on the last EC thread that made me think. She mentioned how that article (which I refuse to read, because I know it's just going to get me really mad) basically excuses the bad behavior men have come to think is acceptable. I would have to agree with that and take it one step further.
Have any of you girls (or guys I suppose) ever been complaining about something your boyfriend/husband/significant other did to someone else and gotten the response "that's just men" or "well, what can you expect? He's a man."???
I feel like too often, women make excuses like this for men, but I can't for the life of me figure out why. As if just because he was born with *ahem* male genitals he is free to act like the essential Cave Man that this article apparently describes as the "normal" man. I agree with JG that all men should at least listen to their women when they talk about what they want in a man, whether that is based strongly on the characteristics of Edward, Jacob, the girls father, or something else entirely.
Women know what they want, and if what they want is someone as close to Edward as possible, then a man should take a few pages out of Edward's book. If they can't or wont do that, then that woman should find someone who fits the bill better. The main point here is that whomever the man is, women should not make excuses for him and his inappropriate behaviors just because "he's a man". If that's what a man is, then I'll take the feminine Edward Cullen any day.
