Beatrix shook her head. She didn't agree with Jane's suggestion, which, honestly, to me, was becoming a dominant part of the plan in my mind.
"Signora, someone can come in, say a few words and come back out. I'd enter before the door closes again," Beatrix insisted before I could answer. She paused, then continued. "We don't know who we're dealing with yet. To torture," she turned her gaze towards Jane, "may not be the best choice."
Jane glared at Beatrix, obviously not happy with her at all.
"Torture is a very effective way to get information out of them," Jane smiled that sweet yet sinister smile of hers. "And you know it is true."
"Okay!" I said. "Both of you. Enough. I'm trying to think." I rubbed my temples; I swear, if I was a human, I would have a huge stress headache at the moment.
"Signora Athenadora, might I suggest that we wait until Alec brings back orders from the masters." Demetri spoke up. "If you should wish it, of course."
"That's... a good idea, Demetri," I said. I looked down the hall; why was Alec taking so long?
