The lyrics don't necessarily fit. Realize that when you're soundtracking a movie, there's a whole different set of qualities you're looking for. The tone/mood of the song far outranks the lyrics. You could have a 8 minute heavy metal song epic covering a grand total of 1 minute of actual scene playing time. It just so happens that the scene is in Death Race 2000 and yet the singer is screaming about how much he loves his fuzzy kittens with a pink silk bow.
In a movie, tone is "boss" rather than lyrics.

While I've (possibly) got someone's attention: Someone remind me: Which scene in the movie is "Spotlight" by Mute Math covering? (I swear, I've seen the movie 3 times, but I just can't remember  )

Anyway, this thread is about soundtracking the books, not the movies.

I've got songs on the playlist that fit for tone and lyrics

and I've got songs that fit tone, but not neccesarily lyrics (it's these spots that I wanted to get feedback on).

Then there's songs where the tone fits so well IMHO that I don't really care about the lyrics.

if this thread ends up not going anywhere, I may move this entire conversation over to the thread about Stephenie's Playlists since this whole project is really just an extension of that.

The scene with the song Mute Math "spotlight" is when Edward and Bella first come to school together.

Setting Twilight to music... hum... I don't typically listen to music as I read, as I tend to try and think of both, instead of focusing on one, HOWEVER, as I read the first book, I kept thinking about the score to Edward Scissorhands. It has that dark gothic/ yet romantically beautiful feels to it. Leave it to Danny Elfman. :D

I always thought that almost every song on the face of the planet was somehow related to Twilight, amazing of Stephanie Meyer to fit the world in four books. (If you know a song that in no remote way can relate to Twilight, tell me)I think that Give Onto Me by Evanescence is great for the beginning of Twilight and any another other part of the series where Edward is brooding because Bella seems to want to take all the pain from Edward. I think Dead Memories by Slipknot is a great song for New Moon while Edward is gone. I think Dead End by In Flames is a good song for Breaking Dawn when they are going to face the Volturi.

Twilight is great how it connects to music so well. I have tried reading with the movie soundtracks and my Muse collection but in the end I just can't really focus. I am a terrible multitasker but reading words and having lyrics playing gets me all confused like. Instrumental pieces can work, nut in the end, I don't need to put them together to get a stronger feel for the emotions being expressed. But separately, the books can make me think of music and the music can make me think of the books. :)

Uh, wrong thread, but I'll answer it anyway.

There are 3 songs that were used in Twilight that didn't end up on the CD version of the Twilight soundtrack but are available on iTunes as bonus tracks, but you have to buy the whole album on iTunes in order to get them. They are:
1) "Let Me Sign" by Robert Pattinson (yes, performed by Rob, himself) (plays during Bella's unconsciousness/dream sequence after the ballet scene and before she wakes in the hospital.
2) a track from "La Traviata" (the opera playing in the background in the kitchen scene at the Cullen house)
3) "Claire De Lune" by Debussy (in the movie, it plays in the scene where Bella is in Edward's bedroom)

Or did you mean New Moon?

Ok, I have the soundtrack and the score. I was wondering...if I make my husband ;) use his iTunes account to buy the soundtrack are the entire songs on this? I know that in the movie, there are only a couple verses to "Let Me Sign" and the "Claire De Lune" is even shorter. I love the entire songs and would like to have these also. We looked it up last night but he didn't see them listed so he wasn't sure what to do. And my only concern was, are these three bonus tracks complete songs or just the "clips" you hear in the movie?
Thanks

I always thought "Love Story" by Talor Swift would be an excellent credits song.

And once edward leaves in new moon, "Somebody to love"?

There's a song written by Marcus Foster which Rob performs that I believe is perfect for New Moon, though I would not be able to tell you where it should go or even which character it would be for most. The song "I Was Broken" seems to fit perfectly with Edward, Jacob and Bella at different times in the book...I hear so many references for the whole Twilight Saga in it but that may be just how I relate to it...
Anyway, you can hear it at: http://www.robert-pattinson.co.uk/music/#faqlyrics. It is a fan based site and no downloading, but you can hear it and it's what has me searching for the complete song for "Let Me Sign". It's such a beautifully tortured song.
