Depends. It's in the same vein as Devil May Cry, what with the whole "being ridiculous just for the sake of being ridiculous" concept.
However, I thoroughly enjoy Bayonetta over DMC. It's just complex enough that you can finish the game if you know enough, but has loads more in store for those who really know what they're doing.
Unlimited continues (though dying hurts your overall rank for the chapter), fairly easy basic concepts, and a storyline that probably won't make a lot of sense but is in line with the absurdity of it all makes it a keeper IMO. However, if the silliness turns you off, you may want to stay the hell away from this.
I can only speak for the PS3 version, but there is a demo of it available on PSN, so you can give it a try. Xbox360 has better graphics and loading times, though there are rumors that a patch is in the works for the PS3 so that the game will utilize the hard drive.
