Two comments from Bill's interview posted on the Lex blog:

1) The flashback scene is definitely Edward, and almost certainly has some moments from his "rogue" period.

2) Irina at the wedding is discussed. What I found most interesting was that Bill says she needs to be there so that everything is prepared to see her again within the first half hour of BD2.

The timing of Irina in BD2 suggests to me that there isn't going to be a buildup there with Bella during her "burning" change. The timing lends itself to starting off BD2 at the very end of her change.

I think the red-eyed closing scene of BD1 just got some additional support. Who knows, they may even do the table flip right there at the end, with Bella and Edward staring at each other to close the film.

I would rather see that ending now than have that portion of the book rushed too quickly. That doesn't even give Charlie's scene much time either.

All of my theories just went up in smoke. I now have no idea whatsoever where the cutoff is going to be. Maybe they'll even get into her first hunt in BD1. That would give them time for some early family scenes in BD2 and Charlie showing up before Irina arrives. I could see the sense of that, providing a very satisfying ending to BD1, and not dragging out for too long things like the pregnancy that could quickly wear thin.

corona, they could put Irina's visit in earlier in the movie. Perhaps it takes her longer to decide what she is going to do about what she saw. Just because her visit is that early doesn't necessarily mean that the events that lead up to the confrontation are going to start building straight after that. You also have to remember that BC only has a rough cut of BD 2 at this stage. He could have got the timing wrong, or perhaps it might change in the future, especially if we scream loud enough!

Tornado, true, it doesn't mean Irina's visit causes everything immediately to speed up.

However, they do know where they are going to make the break between films at this point. BC also said he wants the cinematic impact to happen with Irina without flashbacks. And, he is supposed to be fanatical about keeping everything coherent and under time constraints for his movies.

Unless BC wants to switch some scenes up, I take it that the movie will basically play out like the book, everything in sequence. In other words, Charlie comes first, then Irina. If so, that doesn't leave much time at the beginning of BD2.

So here is what I remember from the book:

* Waking Up
* Meet and Greet with the Cullens
* First Hunt
* Reuniting with Nessie
* Imprinting Throwdown (part deux)
* Vampire Sex
* Charlie and Jacob
* Arm Wrestling
* Everyone's Shiny! (except you-know-who)

I'd say at least 45 minutes. At least.

I'm not complaining. I'm just really wondering now where the cutoff is going to be. I wouldn't doubt now that some of the above is included in BD1. Either that or some of the above is going to get cut out of BD2.

I'd be surprised if the everyone's shiny scene is in, to be honest. And I still think it's possible the sequence might have been changed. It's difficult to imagine a better breaking point than during or near the transformation, although I guess it's possible, especially after what BC said about the cut point being changed after he came on board.
Maybe they want to make BD 2 just about the Volturi. I can't imagine how they would end BD 1, though. I certainly don't think the second sex scene will be in Part 1, as it would leave part 2 without a sex scene. So if they are doing it in sequence, they would need to cut it at least just after Bella's been reunited with Renesmee. It seems a bit odd doing it around there, though, as it doesn't seem to have a clean cut ending point, although maybe they've added something else that would make it work.

I have changed my opinion of how the first film will end a hundred times! I was certain about it before we got to see the scene with the wolves at the Cullen's house, after this, it certainly changed my opinion.

I have gone back to my first opinion though. I think it will end with Bella opening her bright red eyes. I think the change will happen in the first movie and the second movie will follow the story on from chapter 20: New. However, I think, there will probably be a short recap of the burn at the start of BD2.

I think that in the movie they have probably glided over the fact that Edward wouldn't have left Bella during her change. I don't think they would have ignored the sentiment completely, so I think the scenes with the wolves and the one where Edward launches Jacob because of the imprinting, will come right near the end of her transformation. I personally don't like it when they play with the commitment Edward has to Bella, but movies need action in them,if not for the book lovers, but for the general movie goers. The action comes in the form of the wolves/Cullen scene, so that indicates that they have glossed over the fact that Edward never left her side.

I think it's possible to get the rest of the important moments in BD2.

I am starting to think that too. And it isn't just BC's interview, it's that his comments suddenly made me think about the time constraints for BD2. My own preferences are different about the cutoff, because I think a few minutes of buildup in BD2 would be great to start off, then the eye-opening, the flip off the table, the embrace of Edward and Bella.

All great stuff, but there is still a lot more to tell. The way I had things mapped out in my head, shifting about 10 or 15 minutes worth from BD2 to BD1 solves a lot of time problems. It's either that, or maybe trimming the First Hunt way down for BD2.

We will soon know everything in just a few weeks. And then we'll need a fresh new thread for BD2.

I know, I can't wait!!!!!!! However, then the frustration starts again for a whole year! I wish they had decided to release them about six months apart, a year is far too long! :heartbroke: :banghead:

You guys really just threw all my theories out the window! LOL I really don't know anymore... I have thought maybe the break is going to be in the three month period that SM skipped in the book. But I would be very disappointed if we get to see that much of vampire Bella and Renesmee in part 1... I still think it should be somewhere around the transformation...

You guys! I am skimming through the most recent posts and the theory about ending on Bella's bright red eyes was totally what I told my sister a few months ago when we were discussing the same thing. Sorry, that was a huge run on sentence. I'm really enjoying reading everyone's theories! :D
