Yep, that's what I meant. That would be cool right? Don't think it's going to happen though. But a girl can dream...

I don't think releasing Midnight Sun is so far-fetched. SM after all is immersed in the TW world as a producer for the BD movies. It was a faint hope of mine that this might possibly motivate her to finish that book up for good.

I'm not aware of any other projects she has going on. She has hinted she wanted to contine with The Host series, and there have been a few other ideas thrown out there.

If she has been on-set for the filming and editing, I would think that would be an opportune time to get back into the groove and wrap that book up.
"It will take an amazing amount of control,” she mused. “More even than Carlisle has. He may be just strong enough…the only thing he’s not strong enough to do is stay away from her. That’s a lost cause.”

She was talking about the cannibal mermaids for a while there, though. She has said that there are other things that she wants to work on, but is a bit tired of vampires. I think it's possible that we will get another book from her next year, but I don't think it will be Twilight related.

The only book I'm considering buying that's written by SM, at this point, would be Midnight Sun because the impression I've gotten from certain interviews she's done is she thinks that those that don't like certain aspects of her books aren't that bright. Not to mention other comments that have cropped up from people on her end that I've read are a turn off for me and make me not want to buy anything she's released since December 2008.

Hm, I've certainly never read anything she's said that's given me that impression. Can you remember a specific interview or statement?

Off the top of my head, the Rob Effect after people weren't impressed with BD (I find that insulting simply on the basis that I read the books in Oct/Nov 2008 and Rob was always how I saw Edward, and the mere fact that Rob is an actor that can change and grow whereas BD can't), vamps can't have babies but Bella got pregnant by Edward when there was nothing in canon to support even the possibility that vamps can reproduce (I can remember reading that here at the Lex that SM said they couldn't have babies and then later corrected that statement), and her being surprised with how people responded to Jacob and her insisting that he's a really great, innocent character when at the end of NM and in EC and BD he did things that said otherwise to me.

And I've gotten the impression with how she talks about Bella and Renesmee as her basically saying that unless a woman carries a child for 9 months and gives birth to it, they aren't real women (I personally don't want to have my own given my family's medical history, and the way she wrote Bella giving birth doesn't help any). And we apparently got the best of Edward and Bella from Jacob's POV and there are family moments in BD with Edward, Bella and Renesmee that I can't recall being there.

Honestly, saying that she does't think her readers aren't that bright is just me reading between the lines in interviews she`s done. If she thinks otherwise, that`s great, but I haven`t come across anything to support that.

RebeccaCullen,

I don't think Stephenie made a correction to the birth capabilities of vampires. She made a very careful statement about female vampires, and how vampire bodies do not change. Taken together, a lot of people assumed that children were an impossibility, but some read between the lines and saw she didn't explicity rule out male vampires and female humans. There was a lot of misdirection, which was intentional on her part.

With Jacob, there definitely was a lot of sensitivity there. Stephenie was getting criticized as an author in general, and she took it pretty hard in those days before she got some thick skin. And I definitely remember some interviews where she said that if some fans didn't like Eclipse, then maybe they should be banned from reading BD. I think that was done in a joking way, but I got the impression she actually was shocked and hurt by a lot of the reaction to Jacob, who was a very special character to her. Sorry, but while I love the series, I have to confess I don't see him the way she does. She was just so sure that we would love him.

I'm not sure about the "real women" part, although I remember her saying somewhere that she would expect mothers to get some aspects of her story more easily, since her own perspective was as a mother.

I've read a lot of stuff she's written, and I can't recall anything close to that about women. There was one comment where she said that, in our western world, a lot of people don't realise how dangerous it can be (and once was) to have a baby, and that what Bella went through might give them that perspective, but that's the closest I can think of. I can't imagine her suggesting that anyone who hadn't been through nine months of pregnancy and birth aren't real women. That sounds a little too judgemental and narrow minded for her.

RebeccaCullen wrote:Honestly, saying that she does't think her readers aren't that bright is just me reading between the lines in interviews she`s done. If she thinks otherwise, that`s great, but I haven`t come across anything to support that.

I think that's more because of your perspective. I have never read an interview that she has given that gave me that impression, nor have I heard anyone else suggest that they thought she meant that. I think you might have been reading too much into it.

Yes, I really don't get that. How she could think that we'd be okay (especially since most were Team Edward) with Jacob insulting Edward all the while, kissing Bella aggressively, and generally behaving like a so-and-so, especially when Bella then responds to it! I just don't get why it didn't occur to her that we wouldn't like that. I mean, most people didn't like him in New Moon, and his behaviour in Eclipse is worse! I guess she probably thought that, because he was trying to save Bella's life, we would appreciate that, but the mere fact that that meant taking her from Edward was never going to elicit that response from the the majority of people.
