RebeccaCullen, from everything I have seen and read, I don't think you have to worry on that count.

As a fellow traveler on that issue, I could accept the imprinting somewhat but I abhorred Jacob's proprietary attitude towards Renesmee. The most unfortunate aspect of that was the need to demonstrate that attitude being reciprocated by having Jacob star in Nessie's thoughts over her own father. The fact that Nessie holds Bella in such high regard perversely tends to downgrade Edward's position as father, as he now suffers as both man and father in comparison to Jacob and Bella (the most important male in her life is Jacob, and the most important parent in her life is Bella). There are a few good moments between Nessie and Edward, but he seems to take on more of a mentor role than the role of a father.

I can see why that was done, but I hated what was sacrifced to get it. The opportunity to restore that loss never really appears, and the transitional chapter involving Irina is focused on Bella, Nessie, and Jacob and concerns over Nessie's growth. There is little remaining time left for developing family dynamics.

I think BC would avoid that at all costs. I think you will see a modified "canon" portrayal, with events altered in order to preserve the true canon spirit of the book. It is so easy to do, and it's what the audience is going to want, and it's what fans have been begging incessantly for. I can't recall any aspect of BD2 that brings up more questions than whether or not there are family moments added to the film, and specificially whether there are Edward and Nessie moments. I haven't seen anyone beg for a true canon portrayal of those Jacob scenes.

In fact, I would bet Taylor is the one who wants those changes the most.

P.S. I have to confess, it wasn't only Jacob I was upset with, it was Nessie as well. I didn't like her introduction when she bites Bella. Her elevation of Jacob above Edward kind of broke it for me. And the rest of the story didn't help, because I have a pet peeve against portrayals of "super special" precocious children, it comes off most of the time as desparate and phony.

Soooooo...I'm hoping very much that Mackenzie Foy humanizes Nessie and rescues that part of BD for me as well. I really wanted to like Nessie. I guess I relate better to children as children rather than these bizarre hybrids.

corona ~ I too enjoyed your mini-spoof. Very funny as always.

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to comment on the teaser trailer scene where Bella is charging with everyone else in what seems like the final battle scene. I really hope it is a vision and not the actual final battle scene. Though if it is, I hope the movie is sooo fabulous that I won’t mind. Like BD1, there was not suppose to be a wolf fight, but there was. However, I didn’t mind because the rest of the movie was great, well IMO anyway. Also, though the BD1 wolf fight was not canon, it felt like that scene could have happened, it just needed to be tweaked a little. I mean, I just don’t see how a wolf could be right behind Leah and Seth unbeknownst to them, even if they were in human form. In any case, for me, the wolf fight in BD1 was not as far off canon as Felix beating Edward in a fight in the NM movie, or Carlisle taking Edward by surprise in the fight training scene in the EC movie, or any of the other really off canon scenes that looked great on screen.

More importantly and to the point, if the teaser trailer charging battle scene is a vision, I think it would be somewhat in line with canon if the wolves and Nessie would have been blurry, being that they are blind spots in Alice’s visions, and if the Volturi-witnesses would not have been charging as well. Though, I’m glad there isn’t blurriness or blind spots, I don’t think it would show well in film, IMO anyway. In any case, in the book, from the time the vase slips from Alice’s grasp and shatters until the time when Alice and Jasper exit the living room and the family, keeping in mind all that is said in between this time, I think that the teaser trailer battle scene could have been one of the possible VISIONs Alice had. Again, I’m just guessing here, that teaser trailer battle scene very well could be what BC chose as the final battle scene, I don’t know. Also, I’m not saying the Cullens and company would have been successful. I’m just saying, maybe this is one of the visions that illustrated many, if not all, lives lost on the Cullen side, being that Bella may have known about her gift in the vision but not it’s true potential. Also, being that Alice leaves clues for Bella to save Nessie, which further makes Bella believe, that Alice believes or has a vision, that everyone standing against the Volturi will die. I don’t know, I’m just really guessing here.

I just hope Bill Condon sticks to the book ending. I’m going to be optimistic, especially being that he used the BD chess cover in one of the scenes in BD1. Although, if he doesn’t stick to the book ending, I hope he can at least wow me before it is all over.

Violet Sunlight, it certainly seems logical that the trailer battle is an earlier vision, before the importance of Bella's shield is known.

We also know Edward and Alice can go into a feedback loop that shifts the visions. They might decide to throw that in as well. That would be pretty cool, with Aro holding Alice's hand, and then both Aro and Edward shifting strategy around to change the outcome.

Team Jack confirmed it's an Alaskan shot with B&E.

He would not answer the question of whether we see Jacob phasing in front of Charlie.

As for the book ending, I don't think they'll mess with it much. Rumor has it the scene may be shifted to the meadow, though, which seems like a good idea to me.

You know it will hurt as much as it has hurt with the last Harry Potter... an other important part of my life is coming to an end....

I do hope the fighting we see is in one of Alice's visions...

Also I would like to remind you that Ashley has confirmed that they have been shooting with her and Jackson in Brazil, I hope we get to see something of their meeting with the Amazons and their search for Nahuel.

Marielle, I just watched the blogged vid of Ashley for Samsung, and she said that we would get to see bits of the part where she is gone from the family in Pt 2. So it looks like we should see some of that Brazil footage, and it will make a sensible visual break from all the snow in Forks and Alaska. Sounds like that's the strategy for making Bella and Edward's wait in Forks more interesting for the movie.

Yes, I think they will want to show something a bit more exciting than Bella and Edward waiting for the others to arrive...

I also hope that they show bits of Alice's vision that lead her to Nahuel.

I also wonder how they will show the Jacob/Charlie meeting, will they do it real time and leave Edward and Bella to it in their cottage or will they do it as flash backs... I would love to see Charlie's reaction to the fact that he was pushing his daughter towards a monster...

And I'm really curious to see all the CGI/special effects. With Bella they did such a great job making her look sick...
I just hope they won't make the 3 days old Renesmee freaky...

Completely agree. That's such an important scene.

Everyone here had really good points. corona I totally agree with what you had to say about bella running in the clearing. i was thinking unless bill has decided to put in a fight scene with the volturi and cullens (which i would be more than ok with!), i thought that bella might be in training. like when she asked edward to help her learn to fight incase she needed to defend herself. it was just a thought but im excited to see how it will turn out in the movie :)

I can't believe it's so terribly quiet here... especially after the ComicCon interviews...
Not they taught us much...

I hope we get to see some footage and not just the text and view of it delivered by others...

So, I have an odd question, but I'm curious. What would NOT be acceptable in an ending? I know what we say we want, but what would make you walk out angry?
