Marielle~ I agree completely about summit releasing footage to pull attention back to the film. I posted http://erikachristakis.wordpress.com/2012/07/30/why-the-robsten-news-makes-us-sad/] a blog post by Erika Christakis who has often posted very thoughtful and insightful posts all around the phenomena of The Saga that addresses that idea in a round-about way. I think it is difficult to say right now as to whether there will still be any fallout come November. What I think and what I want are two different things, so I'm trying to hold out that the anger and bitterness will fade as we move forward. Even a week later, the issue is still raw. Perhaps in a month, maybe after the Cosmopolis premiere is successful and we've seen Rob in a context other than the hurt we know he is feeling now, we will gain a bit more detached perspective. But, it's hard to say at the moment.

Hello everyone,

Jazz Girl ~ I think you are right. Once everyone sees Rob take a healing step forward so can everyone else who has been affected by this.

Marielle ~ Thank you for responding to my post.

I’m sorry to hear you are fretting about the premiere and the popularity of BD2 and/or the other Twilight films. I pray you and everyone else who is fretting will have peace about all of this very soon. In regards to the situation, my only concern right now is Kristen's safety (as many have said on this site and elsewhere). I pray she will always be safe.

Okay, moving on. In regards to the popularity of the Twilight films, I’m so grateful that this situation did not happen after movie 1, 2 or 3 because I really would have been upset :cray: and for a very long time. If this situation would have happened then it could have jeopardized the quality/budget of said film(s) and not to mention it could have jeopardized the film(s) ever being made. There would have been more to be sorry about. I really wish this would have NEVER happened, but I am soooooo relieved this situation did NOT cost us any of the films.

As far as the future popularity of the Twilight films goes, if they become unpopular or even make the Twilight books unpopular (which I doubt would happen), it still can’t take any of it away from us and I don’t think this situation will hurt any future Twi-Universe books SM would decide to publish, if any. Before any of this happened, I wasn’t expecting any new Twi-Universe material until about 15-20 years or so, if at all. (Well, other than the Graphic Novels, of course). I mean, if the Twi-Universe vampires lose popularity, what's the worse that can happen? [**wink :D , wink :D **] (I hope you catch my crazy drift ;). If you don't, it's okay. It's just wishful thinking). In any case, even if we never get another Twi-Universe book ever, we will still have the complete Twilight Saga films and books.

As far as the possible awkwardness for the Twilight cast and everyone else at the premiere and other BD2 events goes, I hope they all put on an Oscar-Award winning performance that will take some, if not all, of the tension away.

Regarding releasing a new trailer:
I like your suggestion that a new trailer be released. I’m all for that. I'm all for them releasing any kind of new trailer, to be honest. However, I do think one without vampire-Bella would help those affected by what happened. Unfortunately, right now, the less we connect vampire-Bella and Kristen I think the better. From looking at the BD2 posters and clips, vampire-Bella really looks and acts different than before, maybe that and the great story line will be enough of a distraction for everyone to enjoy BD2.

I know a lot of people are concerned about there being a battle scene at the end and how the movie might end differently from the book. I just had a thought about this I wanted to share. My apologies if someone has already brought this up.

Take a look at the following screen grab from the newest trailer:
http://www.mtv.com/photos/the-twilight-saga-breaking-dawn--part-2-exclusive-trailer/1693353/7471243/photo.jhtml#7471260

On the far right you can see what looks like a small fire and a bunch of vampires standing around. I think we all know what the fire is, but could it be that the vampires surrounding it are actually the Volturi? Could it be that the fight sequence is not between the Cullens and the Volturi, but rather the Cullens and the Volturi's witnesses? If that's the case, that would certainly allow for the deaths of a few non-essential characters (French coven, perhaps?) as well as the same peaceful resolution with the Volturi.

christopher, that's a good point. You remind me of some cryptic statement said somewhere, maybe it was on Team Jack.

I think the question concerned the Volturi witnesses, "where are they?", and the answer was wait for the movie.

I had noted earlier after seeing the first trailer that there seems to be an awful lot of vamps on the Volturi side, somewhere around 70, about twice what was in the book. I think the book had roughly 30 to 35 on the Volturi side and the same number on the Cullen side, including both vamps and wolves. The Cullen numbers in that pic looks about right.

There's maybe 10 vamps hanging back? That would account for the core actors for the Volturi.

Perhaps you are right, that might be how they resolve fatalities, mostly a battle between Cullens and witnesses.

How this battle ultimately ends up getting resolved is a puzzle, because regardless of whether they are Volturi or witnesses or a combination of the two, there is still about twice the number of enemies.

I suppose they could have the Cullens be so AWESOME that they actually destroy an enemy twice their size.

You are right, though, that if this group are considered expendable, that would resolve the problem.

Perhaps the Volturi in that group have an initial charge, but then pull back and let the expendables handle the initial assault, hoping to whittle their numbers down first before committing the more valuable Voturi Guard?

Another thought: what if these aren't really all witnesses and Volturi, but the Volturi decided to attack with a new-born army? That IS something we have seen before, the Cullens battling a new-born army that out-numbered them, but still coming through victorious and unscathed.

One last thought: we never got to see how the Cullen allies talents would have played out in an actual battle. It is possible they decided to display their talents as being extraordinarily devastating.

Corona~ If I could throw an additional monkey in the wrench, my immediate thought at that scene was that the group near the fire are the Volturri Wives and their guard. Remember that we are told in the book that the wives never leave Volterra, that they are guarded and protected always. I always chalked that up to the brothers deciding that they could not spare an adequate guard to leave them behind. So, to me, this was just the visualization of what this weakest link would be doing during the hubbub. They are kept back with one or two guards who could protect them in the open while the rest of the Guard and the witnesses take the fight to the Cullens, thus moving it away from them.

JG, completely agree, that was my original assumption. Likely hold back the wives, a few guards, and Alec and Jane.

That was, however, based on the idea that the confrontation would roughly be the same in the movie.

Since they appear to have mixed things up a lot, I can't be sure the wives are even there. IMDB doesn't mention any of their names. Even Renata doesn't show up under credits.

Hello everyone,

I loved everything about the last BD2 trailer. I can’t wait to see the movie in November. I also can’t wait to see Bella’s power (especially) and Zafrina’s. I will be disappointed if they are not in the movie. I mean, they showed mostly everyone else’s powers. Even Renesmee is seen demonstrating her mind imprinting (or whatever it’s called) power on others. So I am really counting on Bella's shield being in the film. And I think the actress who plays Zafrina says we are going to see her power in the film too. So all looks well to me on this subject. Unless someone hear bursts my bubble. :?

Christopher~ Your theory seems VERY plausible to me. I don’t know if it would resolve the issue to stay or stray from the book’s ending but it would certainly be a way to give the audience a battle scene and at the same time somewhat keep close to the book’s ending. Though, somewhat keeping to the book’s ending really means not keeping to the book’s ending. I personally would be okay with your theory as the outcome, if that’s the case. In any case, can’t wait to see how it all turns out. :)

Jazz Girl~ I agree with your monkey wrench comment. The wives wouldn't be allowed to fight hence they would be safely kept away from the fight. I think (please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't have my books near me right now) in the book it says the wives were kept in the back or behind the witnesses. I think Irina was near them too.

corona~ Regarding the possibility of the Volturi wives being at the final battle: I think the wives are there in the field as I said above, the only thing I'm not sure of is if we get to see them in the trailer. If you pause the part where Aro is on the field there are females next to him wearing the Volturi Crest and wearing black cloaks as opposed to gray. And as I understand it, only the Volturi and some (those deemed valuable to the Volturi) of their Guard members get to wear black cloaks, not the disposable members of the guard (I guess that's what they are called) or witnesses. So either the two females are the wives, Sulpicia and Athenadora (which I'm inclined to believe), or I would think they are Chelsea and Renata. I know Corin is another important Volturi Guard we have not seen yet but since she was not mentioned too much in the book’s final confrontation scene I don’t think they would mention her in film. Although, if they do they would be in keeping with the book. Any who, it’s all very interesting to me. Can’t wait for November.

Also, I wish they would update Wikipedia’s List of Twilight Cast Member page. Although, I know that Wikipedia is NOT the most reliable source of information but sometimes they get things right. The page, or character chart, is either missing characters or does not list existing characters as being in BD2. Or one of the most puzzling things I’ve seen on there is Phil is listed as being in BD2 but not Renee. In the book (please correct me if I’m wrong), neither of them appear after Bella is a vampire. Another puzzling piece of information Sue is not listed as being in BD2, I would think she would need to make some sort of appearance. Probably the information that’s missing or puzzling to me is a typo or misinformation. But I like the chart/list because it’s the only one I’ve seen, so far, that has the most information about Twilight’s characters and actors.
