I'm from Paris, France

- No we don't eat croissants all the time
- I don't know a lot of people who wear a beret
- We aren't obsessed with wine, coffee or cheese
- There are other things to see in Paris than the Eiffel Tower
- We do not wear Dior or Channel clothes, those are way too expensive
- Not everyone smokes
- There are people who are rude, and other who are nice, just like anywhere else in the world
- There are a lot of decent girls in France, we aren't all sluts

I think that's it. If you think of something else, feel free to ask ^^

I'm from British Columbia, Canada.

-No, we aren't all lumberjacks (although the economy of certain places are forestry-based)
-We do not have pet polar bears
-It isn't snowy very often (in some areas)
-We do not live in igloos
-We mostly don't have maple syrup production near our homes (maple syrup comes from Quebec mainly)
-Not all of us are bilingual (though some of us...nous parlons le francais et le anglais). The majority of us are Anglos.
-We don't all play hockey
-Not all of us love BC Bud
-We do not say eh and aboot.
-We like the "our" spellings. Ie. Favourite, Colour, Neighbour
-We say zee, not zed.
-We don't eat blubber
-We have a Queen, who is represented in Canada by our Governor General
-We are multi-cultural,rather than a melting pot (like the USA)
-We do not have pet beavers
-No, we mostly likely don't know your friends from Canada. Canada is a very large country.
-We have a prime minster, not a president
-We do not speak American
-We call them toques, not beanies

This reminds me of the "I am Canadian" video

"Hey, I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader....
I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dogsled....
and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada,
although I'm certain they're really really nice.

I have a Prime Minister, not a president.
I speak English and French, not American.
And I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'.

I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack.
I believe in peace keeping, not policing,
diversity, not assimilation,
and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.
A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch,
and it is pronounced 'zed' not 'zee', 'zed' !!!!

Canada is the second largest landmass!
The first nation of hockey!
and the best part of North America

My name is Joe!!
And I am Canadian!!!"

I'm from the eastern part of Long Island and everyone always thinks we are spoiled brats and rich. Ugh its so annoying. I went to camp and we were talking about where we are from and these two girls were like (when I told them where I was from) "oohhh money" ugh. It's so not true. The hamptons are like that but most of Suffolk County isn't.

I love this thread! It’s so interesting to read about all of these different places!

I’m from Tennessee and….

-No, we aren’t all stupid hillbillies.
-No, we aren’t all rednecks, either.
-We don’t use those sayings you hear on Hannah Montana (more than blah blah blah than mullets at a trucker’s convention- ha!)
-Yes, we do say things like ya’ll and over yonder…haha
-No, we aren’t all married to our cousins.
-Yes, we know Fat Phil sucks.
-Country music isn’t the only thing we listen to. Actually, I have quite a few friends who don’t even like country music.

That’s all I can think of for now…if anybody thinks of anything I’ll be happy to answer! :)

Um, well lets see, I know of two shelby’s, and there is a Shelby county (where Memphis is located), so I wouldn’t say we’re overly populated with shelby’s or anything  …just wondering but, why do ask? lol

Layla_Hale,

You are frikin hilarious! That thing about Hannah Montana had me rolling on the floor.

I could think of a few things to add. I heard this joke yesterday from Jeff Foxworthy. It goes like this: Why is so hard to solve a redneck murder? Because all the DNA is the same and there are no dental records!

Sorry, you made me think of that when you were defending yourself about not being married to your cousin!

Yeah i knew about the Shelby County. I only ask because that's my name and i thought it was really common in Tennessee and the southern area. That and i'm always looking for things with my name on it and usually it's really hard to find except in the south... ? some times i can find it but it's really rare in the west. (that's where i'm from)
