I read one Koontz book and didn't like it. His bad guys are really bad and he has a thing for adjectives. Too many to be precise. OMC! Enough with the verbal descriptions already. Can you say edit?! I've heard good things about the Odd Thomas series so I have them on my Shelfari list to read, but I don't know how quickly I'll be getting around to them...especially after GNE
sends me the Dark Hunter books.
I'm so tired. I just want to go to bed. It's 11:15 pm here and I'm staying up with FS while he finishes a major assignment that he's procrastinated until the last minute...naturally. My mother used to stay up with me too. She never did my work for me, just kept me company and helped me stay awake. FS is the king of procrastinators. I can't believe he's not burned out on burning the midnight oil. I sure am.
I went to book club tonight. We did Life As We Knew It
. It was well written, but I didn't like it for personal reasons. Check out my review on Shelfari.
So this weekend is FS's last high school football game ever. *heavy sigh
* All the festivities start tomorrow. There's nothing like a force of footall parents to make the build up last longer than the game. This is the same group that got the police department to fly the game ball in to the fifty yard line by helicopter for Homecoming. We also had fireworks for every touchdown that game. Anyway, tomorrow night just the seniors and the coaches are going to Montgomery Inn
for dinner. (Famous ribs place) Not to be outdone, the parents of the seniors are going to dinner at another restaurant. The tailgate on Friday starts at 5:00 pm. The senior parents have to be on the field at 6:40 for corsages and line up. We will walk across the field with our senior player and be introduced while his bio is read over the PA system...the bio he wrote and we never saw or had any input on. This has been a school tradition and while most are dry and boring, some are hilarious..."Kyle plans on doing something important with his life, he just hasn't figured out what it is yet," or "Tom plans on majoring in history although his mother still holds out hope that he'll become a doctor." After we get our picture taken, we join the other football families on the field. The whole team will run out through the fog and laser-light filled tunnel and through the families on the field who will release a few billion balloons into the air as they team runs by. Yeah, that's just the pre-game.
One of the other traditions is to have the fence lined with poster boards dedicated to each individual senior. I've spent the better part of the day printing out pics and organizing them. Tomorrow all I have to do is stick them down and lamiate the whole thing. (It's supposed to rain Friday night
)So new question now that it's almost a new day here in the eastern time zone: What are your feelings about slippers?
I realize this is an odd question, but my kids seem to think that their socks are slippers. I go through packs and packs of socks. I too am guilty of this because it's fun to slide on the wood floors, but I have really nice slippers and when I wear them I'm toasty warm and think, "Why don't I wear these more often?"
